Item is 40" long, made of bamboo, with a metal clip

I tried to find y'all something mongolon or anasazi in keeping with my trip but no good...so here ya go have a guess at this.

It looks like a loop to catch small animals around the neck. I hope I'm wrong though. I hate to think of tiny animals having their neck caught in there!

I'm with David on this one. I think I saw one of these in a documentary once, where some wild life conservationists were trying to catch some animals in order to tag and release them. The animals were not injured, David. In fact, the aim of the entire process was to try to conserve the species the conservationists were targetting.

I am sensing a trend here..... BUT are you correct? ? ? ? ? Ya know just because you all agree doesn't make you right....baaaa-baaaa..... any free thinkers out there willing to step outside the box, think outside the envelope and hazard a guess as to WHAT THIS IS? ? ? ? But then again maybe going with the majority is the CORRECT answer in this case....Only time will tell .....
