Where I come from it's "Everybody and his uncle."

Up here, it's "everyone and his brother (pronounced 'brothah')".

From "Woostah"?
"It is required of every man that the spirit within him should walk abroad among his fellow-men, and travel far and wide."--Charles Dickens.

I´ve been reading quite a lot lately. I just finished a story I hadn´t read before; Nobody´s Angel by Maiden o fthe sea. Kinda of a "Brokeback" meets "Rebel Without a Cause" meets "Outsiders" meets "Romeo and Juliet" story with Ennis as a "greaser" and Jack as a "sock" set in the 1950´s.
It was really good and I´ve done much else besides working and reading for the past few days.

Am about to start on another story by Maiden of the sea now called "Able Fires". Let´s hope it´s equally good!

Where did you find copies of Maiden of the Seas stories like that?  The only ones I have are the 3 stories in the Sequel of "For a Little While".  I didn't know she had written anything else.

I've done quite a lot of reading this week as I've been home from work sick. These are three new stories that I especially love and recommend. They are all being updated frequently.

I love Sandcrit´s sequel to One Little Thing called Headlong
Ennis works as a ranch hand one summer on the Twist farm and Jack (who is younger) falls head over heels. Angsty and sweet.
Both stories can be found here
http://sandscrit.livejournal.com/

and then it's Annabirmingham´s sweet and smoking hot office romance Office Politics
http://annabirmingham.livejournal.com/

and finally Heathyluv´s new story True Colors
Ennis is a dork, Jack a popular jock in a highschool setting. It´s hot.

I also did a bit of writing and posted an entry for the bmm_drabble Valentine´s Day Challenge (theme: secret crush) . It´s called 31 years & 9 Days and If you wanna read it you can do so over on my LJ

Does anyone have a copy of "Half of the Other" by Clearflow (Bagel1) you´d be willing to share?

I´ve been re-reading "Portrait of a Farmer" - again. It´s breathtaking.
How can somebody actually write this good? I´ve read it I don´t know how
many times now, and it´s flawless. Reading it always makes me wish I were
a painter, cause then I´d paint Ennis the way Jack sees him in this story 8)

Hi! I´m with you on "Portrait of a Farmer". I´ve read that story....countless times.
And I´d love to see the photographs Jack takes of Ennis under that bright Californian sun, to see what it is that Jack sees.
Or perhaps it is himself that he sees, reflected back at him from Ennis´s dark eyes.

Pictures from that time in American history is always sad but interesting to look at.
