Thank you for your kind words, Katherine, and I didn't feel trivialized in any way by your post. I guess I was just reflecting on how, in a comedic film, the character who slips on the banana peel wouldn't feel at all funny about the event.
But you know, I think one of the characteristics of spiritual mastery may just be the ability to laugh at the sheer absurdity of life and the world--and that your own pain and worry is just another part of that absurdity. But it takes great courage to honor and express such laughter--courage I don't have at present.
