World's oldest tenor enters civil union
« on: September 17, 2007, 01:22:33 am »
Amazing story here--don't know if anyone might have already posted it. The world's oldest living tenor, Hugues Cuénod of Switzerland, turned 105 years old earlier this year, the same year which saw him enter into a civil union with his partner Alfred Augustin, taking advantage of recent Swiss legislation allowing same-sex couples to enter into unions providing for similar benefits and responsibilites of marriage. Cuénod, who created the role of Sellem in Igor Stravinsky's opera The Rake's Progress in Venice in 1951, lives with Augustin in an ancient chateau that has belonged to the distinguished singer's family for centuries. Read on (and see these handsome gentlemen at home):

Way to go Hugues Cuénod and Alfred Augustin! I applaud you both! It's never to late to find that special someone!

That's a beautiful story Scott. Thanks for posting it!  :D
