we were outside an Italian resturant in NYC called Carmine's.  Very good food!

Never did any karaoke.  The place we went to, everyone (but us) seemed to be 25 or under, so we didn't stay.

lmao

Happy Monday, BetterMost!!!!

Weekends go by too quickly!  That's all I have to say!   Damn!   Wasn't it just Friday afternoon?

Anyway, hope everryone had a great weekend!  I had fun in NYC on Friday, and then spent the rest of the weekend just being lazy!  ;D

One minor setback this weekend, exercise wise.  The personal trainer I wanted to hire has backed out, booked until March, and I don't want to wait that long to hire one.  There is a gym by my job, and I'll see what the membership fees are there, and if they offer personal trainers.

And now, how about a new "remake" poll?  Here is our first contestant.

Canadian Gordon Lightfoot first began to gain recognition in the mid-'60s as a songwriter when his compositions "For Lovin' Me" and "Early Morning Rain" became hits for Peter, Paul & Mary, and Marty Robbins topped the country charts with "Ribbon of Darkness." Lightfoot's own style was understated, his tasteful folk arrangements topped by a gentle burr of a voice. His albums began to appear in 1966, but it was not until the start of the '70s that he became a big success as a performer, scoring in 1970 with Sit Down Young Stranger, which contained his hit "If You Could Read My Mind," a song with a typically flowing melodic line and gently poetic lyrics.

In 1971, "If You Could Read My Mind" got to #5 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Stars on 54 is a one shot group made up of dance stars Ultra Naté, Amber, and Jocelyn Enriquez. They were hired to perform a song on the soundtrack of the movie "54", all about the famous "Studio 54" disco that was the hangout/haunt of a number of celebrities during the days of disco.  The song opens with Ultra Naté, followed by Amber, finished up with Jocelyn Enriquez.

In 1998, their version of "If You Could Read My Mind" got to #3 on the dance singles charts, and #52 on the Billboard Hot 100.

So, which version do you like?

Morning, Chuck. Awwww...I'm sad I can't go back to bed this morning -- it was very shocking to hear an alarm clock today. I'll have to listen to the music tonight--love that song, tho.  May Monday pass well for ya.  :)

Me, too.

Chuck, I love all the songs you mentioned up there when describing the poll, and the other songs you mention below.  "Early Morning Rain" ... "Sundown" ... "Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald" ... somewhere around here I must have a Greatest Hits CD with many others.

Now, as for the poll, since I can't play the remake on my computer and haven't heard it, I guess I'll not vote this time.  But I'll be interested in the results.

I chose Gordon Lightfoot. I know Bug Shock!
I can't play the songs here at work but I know which one I'll pick anyway.
I love "Wreck of the Edmond Fitzgerald" to this day.
I remember my Best Friend Mike had this 45 and we would play it over and over again while we played Parcheesi and ate our Halloween candy! LOL
