Well, it looks like you made the most of your three-day weekend! I'm glad to see your Mom is getting out and about. I haven't started enjoying fall treats yet. My fridge is full of salad fixings and I have to use them up. I'm going out to a Korean restaurant tomorrow so hopefully I'll have something that will get me in the mood for fall.

Even though it's been unseasonably warm lately, the leaves are starting to turn. So, it must be getting cool at night. I'm looking forward to trick or treating this year with my son and his family. His daughter is two and really enjoys it. I am looking for a blue onesie so I can be Grover from Sesame Street.

Hiya BetterMost friends!!!!

I hope everyone is doing well!

:)

Not much has been going on at this end, so I haven't posted.

I did get my Halloween stuff down the weekend after Halloween, and the Thanksgiving stuff is up.

I've been watching the Grand Prix of Figure Skating, it's nice to be able to enjoy my sport again.   ;D

I had last week off of work, for a "stay-cation".  I used it to take care of some chores and get the car serviced.  I also needed to go shoe shopping and get a new pair of dress shoes, and two new pairs of sneakers.

I needed new shoes because I'm invited to a formal wedding on Sunday, the son of a friend that I've known since the 90s is getting married, and it's a formal wedding.

The following week, I will be isolating as a precaution.  I always hear stories about a wedding or major party taking place, and then suddenly calls are being made about someone tested positive for Covid after the wedding and now it's getting passed around again.  If I should get exposed by chance at the wedding, I don't want to bring it to anyone at work or my family the week before Thanksgiving, so I figure if I isolate for a week, just in case, everyone should be fine.  LOL.

Tell him when l come up to him and ask to play the record, l'm gonna say: ''Voulez-vous jouer ce disque?''
'Voulez-vous, will you kiss my dick?'
Will you play my record? One-track mind!

Very prudent of you. How many would know or be able to do this? Just a hypothetical question.

Hiya BetterMost friends!!!!

Thanksgiving week has arrived!

;D

The wedding was a lot of fun, I got to reconnect with some friends, and the ceremony and reception were lovely.

The bride is a pastry chef, and she baked her own wedding cake!  It was delish!

The week spent in the apartment seemed to go by quickly enough.  However, it wasn't needed.  I never felt sick and got no phone  calls from anyone talking about possible exposure, so I'm guessing everything was fine!

I picked up some ingredients for a cornbread casserole, and I'll make it Thursday morning for the family meal.   I'll spend Friday working from the apartment.  It should be a very slow day and I plan to be taking down my Thanksgiving stuff, and putting up my Christmas stuff.

Wow, switching out the Thanksgiving d?cor for the Christmas d?cor one day after Thanksgiving! That's strict!  :)

Is your cornbread casserole basically cornbread dressing/stuffing or is it something different? I love cornbread concoctions and am thinking of making cornbread/elote/pico de gallo/maybe bacon concoction for a quick breakfast or other snack when my son is visiting.

all you do is mix together a 1/2 cup of melted butter, one can of whole corn kernels (drained), one can of creamed corn, 8 oz of sour cream, two large eggs.  Once they're mixed, add one box of Jiffy corn muffin mix.

combine and pour into an 8x8 pan, and bake for 45 minutes at 350F.

Hiya BetterMost friends!!!!

I hope everyone was sufficiently stuffed for Thanksgiving!

I had a nice holiday,  mom, dad, Chris and I had a dinner of turkey, mashed potatoes, the corn casserole, and then mom made some Penne Alla Vodka, meatballs and sausage, and garlic bread.

Dessert was pumpkin pie, and assorted cupcakes.

I worked Friday, but it was VERY quiet, which I expected.  Spent the day in the apartment getting it decorated for the holidays.   The windows are lit up, the kitchen and living room are decorated, and the tree is all set.

I also managed to get my first batch of holiday cards mailed, the international ones. I'll start mailing out the domestic ones a little later.

Hiya BetterMost friends!!!!

So, let me tell you about my week.

 >:( >:(

I was on vacation this past week.   I planned it that way, so that each day mom and I could get a different Christmas cookie done each day, and then by yesterday (Saturday) they would all be made and decorated, ready to give out this week.

So Tuesday I went to my parents' place, and we made a dough to chill, and then made the chocolate chip cookies, because that dough didn't need to chill.  They taste good, but came out pretty flat, and we couldn't figure out why.  They also took longer to get done then the recipe said.

On Wednesday I got an oven thermometer, and found out the oven was heating about 25 degrees lower than stated, so we adjusted the temp and went on with the next batch of cookies, they came out fine.

Thursday's and Friday's cookies also came out fine.

Saturday we baked the sugar cookies.  We followed the instructions, but they spread out to shapeless blobs.  This was the most upsetting, as we had just got a bunch of new cookie cutters and decorations, and now we wouldn't have the cookies to decorate.

We decided to make the best of it, and decorated the cookies that did turn out.

Got home Saturday afternoon.  By Saturday night I was feeling sick.   I took a Covid test, it came back negative.  I woke up this morning still feeling sick.  Major congestion.  No fever, no aches or chills, and no loss of smell or taste.   I took a second Covid test, and it's negative again.

I called mom and dad to let them know I wouldn't be over today, and to watch how they are feeling, and if they start to feel badly, to see a doctor.

This means, however, that the cookies we spent all day decorating are basically contaminated.  We can't give them out to anyone.  So they're all bound for the garbage, and we've wasted our time, efforts and money for nothing.
