"W" is Wolf (1994)
« Reply #4611 on: August 01, 2008, 10:59:01 am »
Jack played Will Randall in this film.

IMDB: A cool new take on a werewolf story. Will Randall(Jack Nicholson)is your every day nice guy, who does'nt seem throw many punches, his best friend and coworker Stuart Swinton(James Spader) steals his job Has Senior Publisher, and his wife Charlotte(Kate Nelligan) is cheating on him. But something interesting happens to him. While driving home after a business trip, he accidently hits a wolf, and when he gets out of his car and tries to touch it, the wolf bites on the hand. Suddenly Wills senses start working in overdrive, He starts seeing farther then normal, and hearing farther also. And he starts able to smell things other people can't. He starts feeling great enough to fight back, And he will now start throwing punches. But happens when Will's Wolf instincts start taking over? One of the best werewolf movies in a long time. Jack Nicholson was great, really to perfect for this role. A different take on the werewolf story. Its a howling classic.

I'm impressed. How long did it take to make all those connections (degrees)?

Wildcard X is About Schmidt (2002)
« Reply #4612 on: August 01, 2008, 11:14:54 am »
Jack plays Warren R. Schmidt in this film.

IMDB: This is the saddest movie I've seen in years, maybe in my entire life. People who say it's comedy are dead wrong. It's a realistic, brutally true example of a failed life, and it's so tragic.

Nicholson plays Warren Schmidt, an insurance salesman, whose life crashes down on him when he retires. Nicholson, someone I've loved ever since I first saw him, gives his best performance since "One flew over the cuckoos nest". He's so subtle, so sad, so hollow. You don't doubt for a second that he is Schmidt. He has let his body age for the role, which makes him even more real.

Alexander Payne's direction is flawless. Everyone, simply everyone, does a great job portraying the various characters, from the hotshot newly educated young man who takes Schmidt's job, to the embarrassing buddy of Schmidt's daughter's fiancé.

This is a must-see movie. Even if you hate Jack in all his other movies, you will love him in this one. Don't expect a "hilarious comedy", though. This is a thoughtful movie and not "Anger Management".

10/10

"Y" is You Are Here (2007)
« Reply #4613 on: August 01, 2008, 01:10:04 pm »
"You Are Here" featured Bijou Phillips, who appeared in "Almost Famous" with Frances McDormand, who appeared in "Something's Gotta Give" with Jack Nicholson.

I couldn't find a poster, but here's the trailer:

From Yahoo! Movies:  A group of twenty-something, nightclub-going friends, wake up after a wild night on the town to find their lives in chaos. As they contact each other to figure out just what happened the night before, they begin to understand that they're affecting each other in ways they couldn't possibly imagine.

Not too long.  I can tell you that Jack Nicholson has not appeared in any films with Timothy Hutton, Joe Pantoliano, Chazz Palminteri, Richard Dreyfuss, or Cybill Shepherd.  LOL  Seriously, IMDb's "joint ventures" feature is very helpful.

"Z" is Zemsta (2002)
« Reply #4614 on: August 01, 2008, 04:32:55 pm »
Zemsta features Roman Polanski who was in Chinatown with Jack Nicholson!

Plot:  A winter day at a Polish castle, half owned by a fatalistic notary and half by a volcanic old soldier's niece. The old soldier, Cupbearer, and the notary are sworn enemies, which may doom the love between the niece, Klara, and the notary's son, Waclaw. On this day, the tongue-tied Cupbearer asks a braggart courtier, Papkin, to sue on his behalf for the hand of the widow Hanna. Papkin succeeds and the wedding is set for the next day. In response, the notary plots to marry Waclaw to the widow to upend Cupbearer's plans. When Cupbearer learns of this perfidy, he responds with his own plot. Will there be poison, a duel, kidnapping, and imprisonment; or, will fate bring another solution?

"A" is Anything Else (2003)
« Reply #4616 on: August 02, 2008, 01:07:13 pm »
Danny Devito played the part of Harvey Wexler in this film.

IMDB: Woody Allen's witty romantic comedy about a young writer, Jerry Falk (biggs) and his problems with his wife, Amanda (Ricci). Meanwhile the young writer has a teacher-student relationship with an old writer who teaches (Allen). I thought this was classic Woody, with a modern twist. Biggs was great as the main neurotic Woody character. Thought Ricci was great as the female neurotic lead, great performance by this young actress. I thought Channing was also good as Paula, Amandas mom. DeVito was also good to see in a hilarious performance as Jerrys manager. This film had a great Woody script, some very good dialogues, interesting direction and good performances by the cast. 9/10

Danny DeVito played Martin Weir in "Be Cool."

From IMDb:  John Travolta reprises his role as Chili Palmer, Hollywood gangster, who now turns his eye to the music business. Using his "negotiation skills," he tries to run an independent record label with the wife of a murdered friend, played by Uma Thurman, and try to get his young singer (Christina Milian) a hit record.

Danny DeVito plays Buddy Hall in this film.

IMDB: This holiday comedy is centered around two neighbors in a small New England town who go to war when one of them decides to decorate his house with a so many Christmas lights that they are visible from space. The neighborhood is turned upside down as the families try to discover the true meaning of Christmas.
