This movie was anathema to my mom's side of the family, who were long-time residents of the real Sugar Land, Texas, and who took umbrage at the fact that hardly any (or any at all) footage was shot in the vicinity of the actual town. From reports, the movie makes Sugar Land seem like a border town--it's actually much closer to Louisiana than it is to Mexico.
I remember being driven as a child from Rosenberg to Sugar Land, and seeing a movie crew working out in a field beside the road. I've sometime fancied that I might have seen a scene from this movie being filmed then. I should check it out sometime (specially since no close family members now reside in Sugar Land).
