1963!!  What happened to 1964? LOL!  Don't you people have jobs? ;-)

I can't believe no one posted The Umbrellas of Cherbourg (1964).  Probably my all time favourite film!  Oh well, you snooze, you lose...

Oilgun, that's my fault.  I posted Unsinkable Molly Brown, because it was the only film I recognized on IMDb's list of "U"s for 1964.  The Umbrellas of Cherbourg wasn't on the list!  I much prefer that film, too.  I think I'll go back and change it...Debbie Reynolds out, Catherine Deneuve in.

IMDb lists it by its French title, Les Parapluies de Cherbourg...it would have shown up under the "P"s for 1964. This is still the only Jacques Demy film I've seen, but it's widely considered one of his best, and by some as his very best.

Listed as "Eight and a Half" as an alternate title on IMDb, so I am ruling that it counts for E. Would you guys have preferred "An Evening With the Royal Ballet"? LOL

'The Leopard', in English translation. Luchino Visconti's sumptuous spectacle on the Risorgimento, adapted from the famous novel by Giuseppe Tomasi Di Lampedusa, and including in its stellar cast such luminaries as Burt Lancaster, Alain Delon, and Claudia Cardinale:

Paul Newman was nominated for the Best Actor Oscar, but didn't win. Larry McMurtry wrote the novel upon which this is based, "Horseman, Pass By."
