What Animal Am I?

Here are the first 4 photos in a sequence of 17, depicting the first 120 days of a little animal's life. What animal is it? Later this week I will post the remaining 13 pics, which will reveal the animal's true identity. Before I do that, however, see if you can guess this cute lil guy's true identity!

for it to grow on, makes me think it could be a panda..?

As well as pandas, Tasmanian devils also have black and white fur, Janice.

Possible hint from me? Possibly not?     

Maybe the black and white fur is just a red herring, electronically added by me, solely intended to confuse/mislead you.     

Another hint: Closely examine the baby animal only. Try not to be distracted by the medical goings-on in the background.

If not 57 varieties, maybe he's the product of a love match between a Tasmanian devil and a badger. If so, what would that make him? A Bad Taz, perhaps?

If not 57 varieties, maybe he's the product of a love match between a Tasmanian devil and a badger. If so, what would that make him? A Bad Taz, perhaps?

I ruled all marsupials off the list because they are born far more premature than this creature is. Masupials look like tiny worms when they are born.
Naturally I ruled out the Kiwi, too. A bird, nice try 
This leaves Dingo, Fox, Panda, Grizzly and badger.

Looking at the underside of it's front paw in one pic, it's not a Dingo or fox, because this a paw of an animal that walks on his whole foot, not only on it's toes like foxes and Dingos.
It's either a bear or a marten. Bears are born after a short gestation period and therefore relatively premature (measured by mammal standards and by difference of weight+size between newborns and adult exemplars of a species), but this little fella looks pretty strong (stemming up its body on its legs), I'd say it's not a bear. So this leaves the badger.

My vote goes for the badger.

My vote as well.  Look at the last picture...not the baby, but the (supposed) parent.  The color of the markings.

Oh, I didn't notice this at all. At first I thought Kerry had posted another pic ( ), but then I realized you're talking of the fur the baby is lying on.
Your're right, it looks like a badger fur. And it makes sense to put a badger fur in an incubator where a handaised badger sleeps in (smell 'n all).

Kerry, you can give up. Scott and I have figured it all out.

Yes they have to have someway to get nourishment while they are in the womb!
They are only in the pouch after they are born. Like all mammals, they experience the birth process then climb up into the pouch.
