Katherine, good to see you're having a nice, uneventful, relaxing day, perfect for posting recipes.  :)

It's kind of unsettling to have mixed up two common English words already today. I may need an eggnog or six when I get home tonight.

Note to others: as Elle knows, I'm taking a big test today. So instead of studying, here I am scouring the internet for eggnog recipes!

This year I might try getting non-fat prepared egg nog (sometimes hard to find, but it still tastes good) and blending it with fat-free Reddi-Whip from a can (one of the greatest inventions of mankind).  That will give it a creamy taste without the extra calories.  8)

I remember visiting my parents in Arizona once, and their idea of lunch was sandwiches on diet bread, made with eggbeaters and nonfat cheese slices.  They seemed to thrive on non-food!  :P  :)

Good luck on your test, Katherine!  :)

Good luck on your test, sister-mod!

Chrissi, there are packaged egg nogs that are-pasteurized, and since I don't know no different, they taste good to me.

Yes, and you can even buy them in Germany. Not in any supermakret, but at specialized mail order selling. It's 'only' 15 Euro per quart (including shipping). That's more than 21$!

 :o :o :o

Maybe there's a market niche. How much is a quart of prepared pasteurized eggnog in the US? Maybe that's what I'll do with our baking house: become an eggnog dealer.  ;)

I once drank an entire quart of egg nog when I was a little kid and I was nauseated and sick for a couple of days. I don't know why I did that. I guess I was seeking a sugar buzz. It took me years before I could even think about egg nog again. But I have been drinking it over these past few holidays. I only buy egg nog from the grocery store. I like to drink it every once in awhile around Christmas time. It's even better when I put some alcohol in it. :)

No wonder you were sick!

Love egg nog! With whiskey or rum.

I'd drink more of it if it weren't so bad for one's system!

When I go to the store next, I'll try to remember to check the prices.

You have a baking house?  What is a baking house?

A baking house is a baking house is a baking house  ;) ;D.

The left one is the baking house, the right one the main house:

Among many other things, it has been a bakery once. The left house was the actual bakery, where the goods were made and baked (therefore baking house). But the salesroom was in the main house. There had been an additional entrance instead of the lower middle window.

And that's part of the oven inside the baking house, it fills a whole room:

The baking house is not used yet and my husband and father-in-law have started renovating it. We don't know yet what to do with the baking house, maybe open a shop in it. But what kind of shop? That's where the idea about becoming an eggnog dealer came from
