Hi everyone!

I registered to this forum about a week (or was it two?) ago, but haven't actually had the time to post or anything.
This is my first post!

I was actually surprised with the number of emails that I got from members of your forum. I don't think I've been in a more friendly forum before.

So, I hope to get to know you all! You seem like a friendly bunch!
Cheers!

Hi injest!
I'm in Virginia, by the beach on the east coast. Not exactly prairie territory so no cowboys here, but it does have its own advantages.

Ooh, I'll be careful to watch out for this biter you speak of.  :)

Hi also to you, ifyoucantfixit!
I just wanted to say thanks for the message you sent me when I first joined.

I have honestly no idea where to start looking and posting in this forum! There's so many forums to look through! I think I may just go eeny-meeny with it, haha.

Well, perhaps I'll jump in tomorrow, as it seems to be getting late here and my eyes are drooping.

The beach is a nice place to be, I guess, but not when there's a hurricane or storm about, because you always have the problem of your house getting blown over or flooded. I guess there's ups and downs of everywhere a person might live, though. Still, one of my favorite things is just the feeling of sand between my toes.

I don't swim in the sea...dont' like the currents. (or the sharks  ) so I love to go when it is cold and there is a storm out in the gulf...I like that whole wild weather thing.

You off for the night? I am sure glad you posted a bit tonight...hope to see you again!

Good night.

Hey there, Kyle!

Welcome to BetterMost.  As others have said, we're a friendly bunch - just jump in anywhere you want!  There are some other mid-Atlantic type Brokies around here - Virginia, North Carolina, DC...  I am from Tennessee, but am currently checking out life in northern California...no beaches yet, though, just vineyards.

Cheers!

Tire irons?   Heh, I hope not!
And you say you're cheeky too? I think we'll get along just fine, pardner in crime  8)

Vuh-jin-yuh?  :D

I don't -think- I have an accent. Here by the coast, it's a lot more urbanized than most of the rest of the state (maybe not as much as the north by D.C.), so an accent isn't too common, but I do run into a fair amount of people with it.

This tongue and lips have never uttered a single "y'all" in their lifetimes.

How's about yourself from Wyoming? Do you have the western accent?

Wow, I don't think I've ever known an Aussie before! You don't say "crikey!" do you?!

Just so you know, ever since hearing Heath from Brokeback, I've found the entire aussie thing only too irresistable.  ;D That, and, well the cowboy thing.
Heh, I don't even know where I got assuming you were from Wyoming in my last post...must be all the Brokeback getting to my head, but that is way cool living in Colorado. I've always wanted to see the mountains myself, but there isn't nothing but sand dunes and such here at the coast.

If it would be weird not to have an accent in Colorado, I'm sure I would stick out like a sore thumb.  :P

Wow, No i don't say "Crikey" Infact no one in Australia says it. Only the great Steve Erwin said it. But its funny how offensive some Aussie get when you assume that. I said it a few times and they just look at you like. "Are you trying to take the piss out of me?"

One "Bloke" said What to Y'all say back in America!"

I said, "Crikey, Your hung" A joke. But he never talked to me after that. I didn't know if he was or cared. But i thought I'd just make him uncomputable. lololol

I hope you get to see those mountains you seek. There wonderful. Much like Brokeback Mountain. When you up there its so idyllic and isolated. Its like Annie wrote the book sitting on top one.

I'll take you there one day!  :-\ :P 8) ;D

He might be scared for life about visiting America. Probably thinks everyone will comment on his basket, hehe.

I've always thought the mountains have held some sort of majestic feeling to them, and that opinion only doubled after I first saw Brokeback.

Whooeee. I'm definitely not herding the sheep. Can't cook worth a damn, but I can sure make food better than beans.

You can see the mountains where you are? That's fantastic! Must be a great sight to wake up to everyday.  :D
I'm afraid I might have to adjust to the colder weather being from the beach (it was actually a "chilly" 80 degrees today, lol), so yeah, summer is probably the best time.

It is really starting to look like a full neighborhood now.  We are having several young people enter the
forum.  We need more of that to give that point of view.  We are all so comfortable, in our own little way
here.  We have not noticed the missing group.. I for one am very glad you are both here.  I hope you can
find a wonderful and supportive group of friends here, even if we are old fogies.  I am sure you shall.

You all ain't this.... When i read this it makes me feel like you are all sad and resent making some of the decisions you've made. Which i hope you don't, Life doesn't end until that line goes flat. And I'm not gonna stop living every minute of mine until that line is flat. I know this isn't what you mean but for some reason its how it makes me feel.

I never seen a place like this. I've found a happiness and a looking forward to life that i didn't rally have a week ago. This place is wonderful.

Well honey, some of us are fogies, as much as we hate to have to admit it.  Doesnt mean we have to
think like one however.  As to having regrets that we are wishing we had not made.  Yes we do.  Some more
than others, however:  i doubt that anyone can live a great deal of time, and do a lot of things. So they
would not have quite a few things that they wish they had done differently.  That is one of the tenants of
Brokeback Mountain.  Learning to live with your past bad choices...They are inevitable I believe.  We just
try to learn and then not repeat them if we have learned anything by them.  In otherwords, like Ennis
learned the fact that you let the time go by and dont do some things that you should, you may not get the
chance again to do it differently.
I dont regret them like he does, but yes I do have some regrets.  I am sure you do too.  Even if your
life is so much shorter than mine.  We are human after all.  Thus we do make errors......So good to have
you here.  Talk to you again soon i hope.

Regret, Oh god, I hate that word. If i was to say i had none it would be a lie. But i wish i had none. Some regrets can eat you up from the inside out. They crawl in from a darkness we try to leave behind. They force them selves to change the descions we make.

I had this conversation with a old guy at work. He was telling me about all these regrets he has. Divorce, marriage and children. That stuff. I started to tell him some of mine. He cut me off and said "Your to young to have regrets" This really annoyed me.  >:(

I'm 19, I've lived a quater of my life. Thats 25% Thats 6 935 days..........

I have regrets. I've lived a good part of my life. I've earned the right to be respected by those who are considered to be more primed.

I read a great little speech about that....can only remember the gist of it.

that your teenage years are spent in so much turmoil....dealing with grown up feelings and changes without any of the tools adults have to deal with them...they say 'these are the best years of your life' but they really aren't.

I hope you can understand that....yes, you are MORE than old enough to have regrets...

They are in so many ways, But they air'nt in so many more. If that makes sense.  :-\

Everyones different, so some people's teenage years are hell, so are great, some are a blur, some are to clear for their liking, so end adruply, some end tragicly.

A lot of it comes down to the kind of kid you grow up as. The way your parents grew you up as. Blame the parents  :-\ In many ways yeah,  ;D

Than you hit this age where you know that it up to you live with the concequences of your choices   ;)

Reminds me of the time a person who worked for me complained that they didn't write music like they used to - how back in his day they wrote better songs, etc., etc.  I asked him just how old he was?

"Twenty-two."

I told him I just had to check, because I thought for a minute I was listening to my father.  I have a theory that many people are born young and stay young.  Many people are born old and stay old.

I have always thought that same thing Bruce...I can remember back in my twenties, some of the
people my age...They were already old...I think a lot of it has to do with living in the now.  I fyou are enjoying
now, which is all we can live in really.  You always see things in a fresh and new way...If you live in the past.  You are forever trying to change something that cant be changed.  All we can do however is learn from the past.  We cannot change it.  And as to living in the future.  We can make the best of plans.  They may or may not come
to pass.  we can hope for the best.  Its all we can do about them....But we can live right now.  We can effect
what is happening right now...That is the only time we can live...Right NOW.
