My daughter is going to America
for three weeks!
Yee-Haw!

My oldest daughter Hannah is accepted for a student exchange program by her school.
In Sept/Oct she'll go to the US for a whole three weeks (how I wish I could do that!). Probably it will be in Pennsylvania, near Philadelphia. Trips to NYC and Washington DC are planned, as well as visiting a baseball game, a football game, what else not. And she'll attend an American high school for the greatest part of those three weeks.
She got the good news today and is over the moon. You should have seen the girl when she came home; the happiness was written all over her face. One look at her and I knew what was up.

The fact that she was soooooo keen on participating is of course related to BBM, even if only indirectly. I have been gushing about my trips to the US for the last five years, and totally infected her with my enthusiasm.

Before BBM, nobody of my family had ever been to the US, nor was anyone interested.
I'm so, so happy for her!

The downside is that I will not be able to come over this year.

I had fancied the Boston gathering in June. But trips to the US are very expensive, so we can't afford two of them in one year. And it's only fair that it's her turn this year. I travelled to the US five years in a row, which was much more than I ever could have imagined.
