Barb, here's a meal fit for celebratin' 2000 posts - brussel sprouts, lima beans, and pecan pie with plenty of Southern Comfort - hold the olives.

Good morning!

Chilly in Maine this morning, but the sky is clear and blue. It finally feels like November weather after so many weeks of mild temps and rain.

Nothing much else to report on. Life is busy with Lance home.

YAA!    The sun is shining today!     :D

Must be chilly out.  I noticed frost on the car when I peeked out the window this morning.

Leslie, i noticed you didn't mention using the outdoor shower today!   LOL

The outdoor shower has been totally closed up for about 2 weeks. My husband finally got around to bringing in the half empty shampoo bottles over the weekend.

However, the hot tub is up and running! Hannah gave it an intial workout last night.

Sunny and cold in New York City.  :)

I'm watching Ed Bradley's memorial service live on our local channel.  Bill Clinton just showed up unannounced and gave a really nice tribute.  There are a lot of his colleagues telling great stories, and there is some first class jazz music and singing.  What a beautiful man he was, and what a loss we have had.  As one of his colleagues just said: What would this world be like if every person was born an Ed Bradley?  People nodded and applauded because the very thought created such a sincere wish in everyone for a world that could be like that.

I went to a screening of "The History Boys" last night (it's very good) in the same theater where I saw BBM for the first time.  As if in tribute to that, there were several Brokie-esque things that cropped up.  Rufus Wainwright sang the song over the end credits (Bewitched, Bothered and Bewildered); at the restaurant afterwards, there was an entree called Knife and Fork Fried Chicken; and there was a drag performer there doing an act in the next room who at some point said quite loudly "And here is my friend TERRY CLOTH!" and got a big laugh.  ;D
Ich bin ein Brokie...

Black Wednesday    :P

The rest of y'all call the day after Thanksgiving "Black Friday" because of the crowded malls.      But at the Airport we all have "Black Wednesday".  The day before  Thanksgiving!

Now I usually have Wednesday off.   But I wrote in for some extra hours not thinking what the date was.    My request was quickly approved for extra hours, along with a memo saying "To all who have signed up: Don't back out".  D'oh!   Then I knew I just made a mistake!   LOL.

And on top of it, I still have a nasty cough from this cold.   Oh well.    If it is busy the day will go by faster right?     ::)

If any of y'all are flying today, please get to the Airport ultra early.   The lines are going to be REAL long.   Do us all a favor and check your bags!  Don't bring any carry-on bags.  That is what slows the security checkpoint.

People gripe about not wanting to check their bags because they don't want to waste time picking up the bags after the flight.   So apparently waiting 10-15 minutes for the luggage is worse than 20-40 minutes in a long security line?

Now I always check my bags.   This way I breeze thru Security with just my jacket and shoes to remove.      Then when I land,  I walk leisurely to the baggage area, first stopping to call the shuttle service (where I leave my car) to come pick me up.  Then a visit to the restroom  (Hate those tiny airplane lavatories!)   and by then my luggage is usually on the arrival conveyer belt.      And yes.   I have had my bags miss the plane.  Once.   And the airline had a taxi bring them to my house later that evening when they arrived on a later flight.    No big deal.

Well, fortunately David, I don't have to fly on Thanksgiving. In fact, I only need to drive 20 minutes to mom and dad's house. Fine with me. The first few years we were married we had to travel for the holidays and I didn't enjoy it one bit. I am glad those days are over.

Cold here this morning -- 24 degrees. Frost on everything.

Here is an example of a teenage son, home from college for the holiday. "Mom, can I borrow your CONVERTIBLE? I don't feel like driving my little dinky FORD ESCORT."

Mom: "All right, I suppose."

When teenage son gets home, "Thanks, mom, for letting me use your car. I noticed it was almost out of gas, and I was going to stop and fill it up, but then I....forgot."

Grrrr!
