I feel if I mustered up the courage to get to my destination that I wouldn't enjoy myself at all because all I would think about is the flight home.
This is me to a tee, and is the reason I do most of my travelling the comfy armchair way (got some snazzy travel books at home, and I'm always looking things up at my library). I will almost certainly never leave the American continent (except maybe for a Caribbean cruise or somethin' along those lines), except, arguably, at the moment of my death (that is the flight none of us can ever avoid).

How could I forget?...I have left the American continent...twice, in 1981 and 1982, on the two visits I made to Hawaii, back in my flying days. I should have said that I'm unlikely to ever leave the American continent again.

Welcome, Clarissa, to the land of the violets!! You'll love it here!!

As for the rest of you, all I have to do is post a pic or two of the jacknifed semis lying on their sides just north of Casper, Wyoming, to convince you to take a plane instead of risking your lives on the highway!!

You gonna fly folks from Estes Park to Brokenback and Ten Sleep?  ;D

Wish I could afford the time to go to Denver on the Zephyr. Train's safer than the highway, and not so far from the ground as a plane if there's a problem!

'Vibrating bag' prompts bomb scare at O'Hare

By Dan P. Blake
Tribune staff reporter

January 11, 2007, 11:15 AM CST

An unattended "vibrating bag" at O'Hare International Airport this morning caused a brief scare but was determined harmless.

The package was reported to police around 8 a.m., which prompted a response from the Chicago Police Department's Bomb and Arson Unit, a unit sergeant said.

Investigators cleared the immediate vicinity in Terminal 5, where international flights arrive and depart. Wendy Abrams, spokeswoman for the city's Department of Aviation, said the response to the "vibrating bag" did not affect operations at the airport.

"It was someone's property," Chicago police Officer Marcel Bright said. "There was nothing dangerous in it. Someone walked away and forgot it."

Authorities wouldn't say what was in the bag, but police did not have to destroy it, Bright said. The area was declared safe at 9 a.m.
