Can't you just hear the boys now?   "But Dad,  I caught it from Billy at a wrestling Meet,  Honest!"

Herpes outbreak suspends high school wrestling in Minnesota

Well, herpes might be forever, but they can be glad it isn't something else wrestlers might be vulnerable to, methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA). That is b-a-a-a-d shit.

Speaking of highly contagious outbreaks...

......we were warned at work to be real vigilant in hand washing.   Seems there is quite the widespread outbreak of the Norovirus in the Boston area.    That is the bug we keep hearing about on the Cruise ships that makes you real sick.

I haven't heard anything on the news about it.  But the fact that is was a bulletin from the Department of Homeland Security makes it valid enough.  I'm sure they get this from the CDC.

Long hair and a full beard is unusual in high school? Not in this neck of the woods....

From Wikipedia:  Historically, noroviruses have been named after the places where the outbreaks occurred, e.g., Norwalk, Ohio, where in November 1968 an outbreak of acute gastroenteritis occurred among children at an elementary school. In 1972, immune electron microscopy on saved stool samples identified the virus, which was called Norwalk virus.

Maybe this makes me a minor celebrity, since our family moved to Norwalk, Ohio, in 1964, and I actually graduated from high school there the year before the famous outbreak.  ;D

The topics that this thread wanders into...and each day always starts with the east coast waking up and reporting in...9 degrees this morning. Talk of snow sometime this week, but not sure what is in store for today. Dark outside at 5:53 am...

G'morning Brokies!

23 tropical degrees here in Hartford this AM.     A rumor of snow flurries sometime this week too.       Here it is, the 31st and we have had only a dusting of snow all season!

But with these cold temperatures, you need to think about how old your car battery is.      The average life of a car battery is 3 to 4 years.    A bitter cold morning will reduce its starting effectiveness significantly.

My 2003 PT Cruiser was cranking kinda slow last week when we had that single digit morning.   So I'm taking it to get a new battery put in today.

Course, a few years ago I would have done it myself.   But on these new fangled cars you can't even see the battery, let alone get to it for servicing.
