Reading about that fiasco at JFK, I am so glad my trip to Utah got cancelled!

5 degrees here, and windy. The last few days have really reminded me what winter is, and I am sick of it. Ugh.

There was a story elsewhere about the stranded NY fliers.   It said that JetBlue had filled some planes and had them taxi out and wait for take off.  Then some more JetBlue planes landed and pulled into those gates.   The storm prevent the waiting planes from taking off, then it quickly changed to ICE and the planes and tractor-pushers froze up and couldn't push the now empty planes away from the gates!    They eventually sent buses out to the stranded planes to get everyone off.   But not after almost 11 hours from the time the people boarded.      The Airport officials kept telling the planes to wait as they were trying to clear the runways and de-icing planes.

I guess what we need to do is determine at what point is enough enough?   Should there be a set amount of time that passengers can/should be allowed to wait?

Personally, I get antsy just waiting 10 minutes on the runway waiting to take off!   LOL.

Fer anyone readin taday's "Full 1 000 + post" list, ya might notice that Azt75(Amanda) has reached a post count number that ain't a number.

Well if'n you were wonderin what the hay that's all about here're a few quotes of a discussion pertainin ta that there subject"

It's programmer slang for "elite" spelled as LEET or L33T and was stuffed in the software.

and, the person who brought it ta our attention:

I had always heard that leet was a 'signature' put in by the software designer...it is the equivalent to 1337 turned upside down...1337 LEET...when the member reaches number 1337.

Just a little joke by the guy that wrote the software...like the old "Kilroy was Here" tags back in WW2

Just thought it was an appropriate place and time ta share this little tidbit of an infermation

Howdy Y'all.

But hasn't amanda been stuck on "Leet" status for a while now?   Surely she must have made additional posts ?

Twas another LONG day yesterday at the Airport.    Ticket counters were mobbed with travellers who still can't get home yet.     The airlines are booked up till next monday and Tuesday already.   They were already booked before the storm and now things are worse.     Nearby Hotels, motels and restaraunts are doing well though.     Many people asked me last night where the best place to sleep in the Terminal was because they couldn't book a room anywhere.    This really cute college boy came up to me with these sad puppy dog eyes and asked.   I was tempted to say "Meet me back here at 8pm and you can stay at my house!"   LOL    ::)

My good news from my cancelled trip: I received a full REFUND for the airplane ticket and hotel. Not just a credit for a future ticket, a refund!

I had booked my trip through Expedia.com. I was flying to SLC on Delta and home on United. Plus, I had reserved the hotel through them, so it was a complete package. When Delta cancelled the flight on Tuesday, I immediately called Expedia. Other people told me they had problems with Expedia and were full of dire predictions.

It took 4 days, two phone calls, and a fair amount of time on "music hold" (but I just hit the speaker phone button and go about my work) but I got a call at 6:10 pm last night that the entire amount of my package ($711.06) was being refunded to my credit card.

Expedia gets a big thumbs up from me today!

LOL

Well, with this post I will be one number beyond leet.  I'm sooooo excited that "leet" has made an appearance on David's list!  I don't know why this leet buisness amuses me so much.

 :laugh: ::)

David, I was at leet once before and then Phillip did the housecleaning and my post-count went down slightly.  So, I've been building back up to leet again.  And, last night when I reached leet I decided to leave it that way overnight.  I wonder if this can be considered some kind of badge of honor that I've reached leet not once but twice.
