Greetings from Massachusetts where it is pouring rain and about 40 degrees (that's a guess). It is too wet to go outside!

Traveling tomorrow and back home in Maine for dinner tomorrow night.

Morning all,

Yes, David, I had to set my watch by hand but my PC knew the correct time. It tells me the temperature is 31 degrees in Westbrook and 19 degrees in Oneonta, NY. Brrr! Here in Massachusetts it is 35 degrees with winds gusting to 49 mph...but that makes it feel chillier than 35!

I am home in Maine and the cold weather has returned....9 degrees this morning. Sigh....I am ready for SPRING! I have had enough winter!

There was a terrible car crash near to where I live on saturday. A mother, her 11 year old daughter and her 11 year old friends (twin girls) were all killed by a speeding car that ignored a stop sign and ploughed into their car. They were driving home after going to the riding stables for a riding lesson. I was at the stables that morning with my daughters. I had watched them riding, having fun and working hard. And a couple of hours later, four hearses are lined up in the street...

Sun 09/03/08 - The two men, who caused the accident on Saturday in Heverlee (Leuven) killing four, were driving at high speed and failed to give right of way to an oncoming car.

Driving a station wagon the two men failed to yield right of way and ran at high speed into a small passenger car. A women and  three children were killed. The two men, from Romania, had traces of XTC in their blood. They are both in police custody.

The two men, both in their twenties, were questioned by the investigating magistrate today. According to Leuven police commissioner Marc Vranckx, the men were questioned to determine what exactly happened and who was driving.

However, there still seems to be considerable confusion as to the facts. Both men gave different accounts of the accident in their statements.

The neighborhood where the incident took place is in shock. The Romanian station wagon was reportedly driving way over the speed limit.
The victims

The victims are a mother and her 11 year old daughter, and 2 of her daughters friends- twin girls also of 11 years old.  They were just driving home from horseback riding when the station wagon did not yield right of way and tore into the car at high speed.

Fabienne, I got such a shock from reading this. You know my friends who live near you fit that description.  However, we called and they're fine. 

What a horrible accident.  Life is very fragile.

Oh Fabienne, that's a terrible story. It just reminds me how much life can change in an instant...my thoughts are with the families. I can't imagine what they are going through.

And Paul, I am glad to know your friends are fine!

thanks Leslie, and (((Paul))), so sorry, never meant to give you a big shock.  I'm glad your friends are all fine.

This news has hit me hard. I can't imagine what those families must be going through. And I'm so mad at those two who caused the accident. They had been taking XTC before and they were doing 90 km/h instead of 30km/h

It's unbelievable.
