RANT WARNING

Yesterday (my Monday) sucked.   >:(

1)  It was my Monday.

2)  I was assigned a station again that I have been stuck in every Sunday and  Monday for 10 months.  ARG!  :P

3)  We are bidding for new shifts later this month and it looks like I'll be moved to the 03:30 AM shift.   Double ARG!   :o :( >:(

4)  When I left work I found that my car was bombed by a Seagull.    :P  >:(

It was just one of those days you wished you had stayed home in bed........ :-\

3:30?? AM???!! Good God....who ever heard of a shift starting at 3:30 in the blistering MORNING?? That is just SOOO wrong!  :P :P :P

and I know how you feel on the gull there....I looked over at the passenger window yesterday and I know they are supposed to be extinct but I swear it had to have been a pterdactyl that left that on that window...no way any bird I ever saw left THAT...Blech....

Yup.  3:30 AM.   Our first shift is 03:30-12:00 noon.   Mid shift is 10:30- 7:00 pm.  Closing shift is 1:30 pm- 10:00 pm.

I currently work the closing shift.  It is quieter and you get night differential pay too.

Another option is the "split-shift".   You start work at 04:30 am until 10:30 am, have a two hour break, then go back to work at 12:30 pm and work until 4:30 pm.      That is a long  day.   And you end up going to bed early so you can get back to work the next day.

I did the first shift on my first month of training.  It sucks.   To be at work that early, I would wake up at 2am.   And since I need 8 hours of sleep to be fully functional at work, I would have to be in bed by 6pm.     The split shift lets you get up at 3am, but you work a longer day, get out in time for the evening rush hour then you are still in bed by 7pm.    Not much of a life at all.    Because you are working 10hrs a day you get 3 days off, but what good is it if your sleep pattern is all screwed up?

The scheduling committee determined that we needed more Officers on in the morning to cover AM flights.   That is why I will have to move to that shift.     I was number 161 in seniority when I started.  Now I'm number 131.    So I figured I would be safe in keeping my PM shift.
You know what the real pisser is?

I am on the scheduling committee!     :-X

hee hee

that sucks....

Morning all,

16 degrees this morning. Yesterday turned out to be a beautiful day with temps in the high 30s and lots of blue skies. This is maple syrup weather: cold at night and warm-ish during the day, to get the sap running.

Indeed.  Yesterday did turn out to be a very sunny day.

I started it off with a trip to the car warsh.   Damn seagulls.  We aren't even near the ocean!

Today looks ok.  Clouding over later and a wintery mix moving in around midnight.  But it should turn to rain by tomorrow morning they say.

So they say.  :P I'm tired of "wintery mixes."  >:(

When did they ever invent this "wintery mix" term anyway? I don't remember wintery mixes when I was growing up!

Look at that!  We have a tie at the moment!  :D

Is there a special dual prize for this kind of situation?
