Why did the Smart have a big crowd? Is it new in the US, or still so rare that people are stunned over it? You can see them fairly often here in Germany.

Today is my second BBM anniversary. It has a sad sting to it now, but it's still wonderful. I do have a nostalgic 'Who would have thought...' feeling
Also, exactly today one year ago was Leslie's last evening with Kerstin and me and we went to a what? a pub? (how'd you call it Leslie?) together where I had my first Shirley Temple  . I didn't have another one since. But I had a strawberry Margerita recently, also in the Barock.

That was a fun evening. It's hard to believe it has been a year--I remember every detail of the trip like it was yesterday. As for what to call the place--it was nicer than a pub. A pub to me implies beer and dart boards. This was a bar--but a nice, upscale classy bar. In the old days we'd say "fern bar" but I think that term has sort of passed out of the vernacular! LOL

Thanks Leslie. It's still our favourite place to go out. But since a few weeks, we do have a new law here in our federal state, and you can't smoke there anymore now  All restaurants, bars, pubs, etc are basically smoke-free now, but are allowed to have a smokers section, if there's a door between smokers and non-smokers.
I know you'll appreciate it, but for Kerstin and me it's bad. We're looking for another nice place where they do have a part of the location reserved for smokers . No luck yet  .

The "Smart" cars just became available here in the States a few weeks ago.    So they are new and very rare to see on the roads.

With Gasoline prices here in the States at record highs, people have a new interest in economical cars.   But the Smart Car is probably too much of a shock to most of them.   

Keep in mind the best selling car in the States is actually a Truck.

The American's liking for BIG cars and trucks is (in)famous here in Germany. Living in and around Heidelberg with its huge American community for thirty years, I've seen my share of American type cars 

Although you see Smarts fairly often here, they haven't become the big success they were supposed to be. They're simply too expensive. For the same prize you can get a "real" car, with four or five seats and similar low gas consumption.

Ah. Maine is smoke-free too--everywhere. Workplaces, restaurants, bars...you name it. There is some talk about banning smoking in cars where children are riding although how they would enforce that, I have no idea!
