We would say "on approval", or probation, like you say.  Never heard of "appro".  Dumbass dictionary!

Tell him when l come up to him and ask to play the record, l'm gonna say: ''Voulez-vous jouer ce disque?''
'Voulez-vous, will you kiss my dick?'
Will you play my record? One-track mind!

Thank you, Paul, Chuck and Sonja. :)

Gonna start on Jan, 7th. The nursery will be closed between Christmas and that day. Lucky me, I can still enjoy a long X-mas holiday with my family! :)

Perhaps written by an Aussie.  ;D  We have a reputation for shortening everything and 'on appro' was quite clear to me. However I find it is in the Oxford dictionary as well as British informal.

So it wasn't my dictionary, but you English speakers, who can't agree on one language. ;)

I have often claimed it is easier to make myself understood in a cafe in Paris with my school boy French than in New York.   However I did have lots of trouble in Montreal so it must be something in the North American air.  ;D

Congratulations on the new job, Chrissi! I fancied you would go after some Internet work since you're so good at it, but this sounds much nicer (I'm grandmother to two children under three years old, and they are definitely delightful!).

I've been hanging around with a British gentleman and it sends me into fits of giggles everytime he says he's going to wear a "jumper". Jumpers are dresses that girls in the US wear over a shirt.
