[Announcement] BetterMost Color Expansion Project!

BetterMost Color Expansion Project

To help you better express yourself in color, we are pleased to announce that we've greatly expanded the number and range of colors you can use in your messages.  Using color is easy.  You can use the Change Color option found in the message editor for a limited selection of font colors, or you can use any of these colors found in the chart below.  Simply use the color= command inside of the body of your message, in this format:

Code: [Select]
[color=CadetBlue]
This would present the text of your message in the CadetBlue color.  You can change color at any time simply by re-using the color= command.

Obviously, not every font color is going to be a good choice when contrasted with the color scheme we use here at BetterMost.  Most of these will be apparent right away in the chart below because they will be hard, if not impossible, to read.  In those cases, you will see the name of the color in (parenthesis) after the name rendered in its respective color.

Non-Standard Colors

There are several colors which cannot be used by name alone, as the forum software will not recognize them.  But you can still use them by entering the corresponding Hex code, shown as #xxxxxx.  Here is an example of how to choose the Cornflower Blue color:

Code: [Select]
[color=#6495ED]
As above, certain colors will be difficult to read because they conflict with our own color scheme.  The name and corresponding Hex code is reflected in black after the display of the name in its respective color.

  Blanched Almond (Blanched Almond) color=#FFEBCD
  Cornflower Blue color=#6495ED
  Dark GoldenRod color=#B8860B

Uh, speaking of colors, I have a problem. ...

This morning my "preview pane" suddenly turned from the light gray that it has been forever to a dark gray that makes the text barely legible.

If I accidentally clicked on something I shouldn't have, I have no idea what it was. Can anybody tell me how to change it back so I can read my own posts before I post them?

Thanks!

I don't think that's a function of colors, Jeff. That sounds to me like some kind of highlighting or selection problem. But what do I know, I never use the preview pane, that would slow down my post count immensely!!

Today I'm noticing the gray background color in the preview panel when composing a post... but the preview panel looks normal (the light color) when composing a PM.

I wonder what that's about.  ???

Well, I didn't know quite where to post the question--wasn't even sure how to ask it--and then I saw this thread about color, so. ...  ;D

It just sort of happened when I was posting from work this morning. And I'm not aware that I "clicked" on anything to change anything. But apparently Amanda is seeing something different, too.

(OK, I just hit "Preview" to check this post, and the pane is still dark gray, so it isn't something related to my office PC or its monitor, because I'm writing this from home.)
