Ok, after a long absence from my blog, the "Which One Is Better" poll has returned.

This week, we'll be comparing the song "Sweet Heart".

"Sweet Heart" was originally recorded by Rainy Davis in 1987.  The song got into the Top 10 on the dance charts, and crossed over to the Top 50 on the Hot 100.

Rainy's debut CD (also called Sweet Heart) was released in '87 as well, and also included the R & B hit "Lowdown So & So".

Here is Rainy Davis' version of "Sweet Heart".

*note, an official video was never made, this is just the record sleeve and pics of Rainy while the song plays*

Tell him when l come up to him and ask to play the record, l'm gonna say: ''Voulez-vous jouer ce disque?''
'Voulez-vous, will you kiss my dick?'
Will you play my record? One-track mind!

In 1998, Mariah Carey released the hits package "#1s", a collection of her number one hits.  It also included three new songs.  One of them was a remake of the Rainy Davis song, "Sweet Heart", which she said was a favorite 80s jam of hers.

It wasn't released as a single, however, the video got a lot of airplay on MTV and VH-1.

Here is Mariah's version of "Sweet Heart".

So, which do you like better?   And remember, the question isn't "which video is better?" it's "which version do you like better?"

Definitely the first version, Rainy Davis.  Hers is more delicate.

I don't like the background singers in the second version.

Kim Sozzi is a NYC native who's been recording dance music for years.

She's finally been given an album deal, and the full length debut CD (titled Just One Day) was released two weeks ago.

Her record company just released the video of the single "Feel Your Love".

Do you think it's hot, or not?

I've decided to use this space to give a quick history lesson on Madonna's music.

She's just released her double Greatest Hits CD, "Celebration", and since I listed her as one of the 5 people I'd invite to a dinner party, why not?  I'll add a new post each day, until I reach her recent CD.

;D

Madonna (born Madonna Louise Ciccone on August 16, 1958) is an American recording artist, actress and entrepreneur.  She was born in Bay City, Michigan, and raised in Rochester Hills.  She became a rebel as a child, after her mother (also named Madonna) died of breast cancer when Madonna was six.  As a young adult, she moved to New York City in 1977, for a career in modern dance. After performing as a member of the pop musical groups Breakfast Club and Emmy, she landed a recording deal with Sire Records, and released her debut single, "Everybody" in early 1983.

While not a pop success, "Everybody" became a huge dance/club hit, and was followed by "Physical Attraction" and "Burning Up".  After 3 dance hits, Sire released Madonna's debut album, simply called "Madonna".

2 more singles were released, "Holiday" and "Borderline", which got to #16 and #10 on the pop charts.  At this time, Madonna was ready to release her 2nd album.  However, a video for the song "Lucky Star" was leaked to MTV, and the station put it on heavy rotation.  This caused the release date for the next album to be pushed back, and "Lucky Star" pushed Madonna to stardom, helping create her image, and becoming Madonna's highest charting single from the album, getting to #5 on the pop charts.

*Trivia note*   The young man dancing in the video is Madonna's younger brother, Christopher.
