I'm experimenting here to see if people consider this interesting or useful. Sometimes, you just need to hear something with some oomph to get you going or lift your spirits. I piece together about a half hour of this kind of stuff every day as part of my power walk (with the BBC rounding it out with news and current affairs). I'll put some choice stuff up to enjoy, a lot of it being quite obscure and most people will have never heard it before. In fact, many of my first choices were recorded and released before I was born.
I have a special affinity for instrumental music as well, so a good deal of it will be instrumental.
But to get started, some music representing the Detroit Sound - a lot of which came before the singing music groups recording for Motown. Sort of a precursor to funk. A lot of it was actually before its time. The early 70s funk era would have had fun with a lot of this kind of music.
