Ghost on the Elevator!!!!

I saw this on CNN's AC 360 last night. You can see what APPEARS to be a ghost. Watch the youtube video below. You'll want to keep your eye on the bottom right section of the screen.

Whether or not it's real, it sure is spooky looking! It gave me the creeps.

Yikes!  That is creepy.  At first I thought the flash of light you see before the guys get on the elevator is what I was supposed to notice.  But, I think that must be the elevator door opening or some kind of reflection of the elevator buttons or controls.

As for what happens at the end, I'm a little skeptical...  I wonder if the film was edited or doctored.  I definitely believe in ghosts.  But, for some reason this one makes me skeptical.

For the record, I voted for "not sure."

Ha!  Me too.  And that's why I was even more startled at the end. I do believe in ghosts, spirits, or whatever you want to call them. But with technology today, it's so hard to believe your eyes anymore, isn't it?      

And apropos of nothing, I think Anderson Cooper is adorable.

Just after I saw this on AC 360, I had to run an errand uptown. As I was driving I kept wondering if that ghost would appear in the seat next to me. I kept thinking "if she makes a sudden appearance in my car, I'll WRECK!"

I know what you mean David... even if it's made up, it's still spooky for sure.  Almost the same effect of a good horror movie or ghost story... sometimes even when you know it's an invented story it can really have a very scary impact!  I have a somewhat overactive imagination about things like ghost stories, so I'm easily freaked out by this kind of thing.  I can never go to staged haunted houses around Halloween time... I would truly be traumatized by that kind of thing.  Again, even going to one of those haunted houses, knowing logically that it's all imaginary and staged, I'd still get too, too freaked out for it to be any fun for me.

I live in a very old building and there are aspects of living here (lots of creaking sounds at night, etc.) so I often find myself feeling a little bit spooked. 

I keep hoping that being the pet-parent to a black cat might somehow magically off-set or cancel out any ghosts or other scary phenomenon.

Oh I LOVE black cats! And Vivien sounds so cute and sweet. Black cats are very good luck, and yes, I'm sure she will cancel out any ghosts Amanda!

Speaking of haunted houses, I once had a very bad experience in one. They had a HUGE maze in the middle of the haunted house, and obviously it was totally dark. I got separated from my friends in the maze and I spent almost an hour trying to get out. FINALLY I found an employee with a flashlight and he led me to the exit. Once I got outside I almost vomited because I was so scared. They have some VERY scary haunted houses here during Halloween.

How old is the building you live in Amanda? I love old buildings and old houses too  Now I remember your black cat Vivien. There is a picture of her on here somewhere.

Yep, this is Vivien... It's a pic of her that my Dad took when she was one year old (she's now almost 3) and she's shown lounging on an air mattress that she has since managed to deflate with her claws.  She used to love to play on this air mattress.  I had to go out and buy a new one recently.



And, my leasing agent told me that the building is from the 1920s and it definitely feels old as a stucture.  It has lots of character.  For intance, my apartment has a really pretty non-working fireplace and really high ceilings with nice molding, etc.  The creepy aspects of the building include the really, really long hallways in the common corridors that are carpeted with a black and red swirling design (a really wacky carpet selection really).  Everyone who comes over says the hallways remind them of the Shining.

Also, I've posted elsewhere about the weird waterpressure in the building that sometimes causes the toilet to gurgle in unpleasant ways and even very occasionally to flush itself!  Once the faucet in my bathroom turned on by itself too.  I really do explain all of this as part of the exceptionally strong water pressure in the building (taking a shower can be great in my apartment because the water can be so strong... it's like a massage if you want it to be).  Still, it can be very spooky when it happens.

Your building sounds great Amanda!!! Although I'm sure it is scary when strange things happen. I love the Shining. Did you know that the hotel in Estes Park was the one that the tv mini series was filmed in? And here is a picture of Code although I think most of you have already seen it. He is between 2 1/2 and 3 years old now so he is about the same age as Vivien. Maybe they are related since I don't know where he came from

Aww, what great pictures!  Another black cat lover here.  But sadly my pal Midnight passed on a few months ago.  She was 15.  She could've been a triplet (well, older sister actually) with Vivien and Code.

I said I would never have another pet and I didn't for a long time, but then Code kind of appeared from nowhere. He needed and wanted a home so he found one with me. And now he is spoiled. Do you have a picture of Midnight?

I've heard that Anderson Cooper is indeed gay.  I think he's been featured in a gay magazine.  He doesn't go around talking about it, but I don't think he's in the closet either.

What does she do David - the crazy woman?

She basically makes noises down there. Last year it got really noisy down there, and I actually ended up calling a priest to bless my house. Then I found out some of the noise was caused by my old water heater, so I had it replaced. The noises quieted down for a few months and then started up again. You can hear her down there banging on the pipes. I've also seen many orbs down there, but I've never actually seen her. A few of my friends have though. And we've felt the sensation of being "pushed" down the stairs. I've fallen down the stairs a couple of times. Alex and Cory have also been pushed.

But Code insisted  Midnight is just an absolutely beautiful cat!!! I am so sorry to hear you lost him. I know how hard that must have been

I am not sure if I believe in ghosts, but I do love ghost tours.  Have gone on ghost walking tours in London, Key West (one of the scariest), San Antonio, St. Augustine, and other places.  It's an interesting way to learn a little history.

When I was 12 my parents and I went on vacation to England, Scotland and France.  While in Bath, England we took an evening ghost tour.  I remember that it was really well-done by a very talented tour-guide/ story teller.  Part of the tour felt a little bit like a history tour (blended in with the ghost stories).

But, as I mentioned earlier in this thread, I'm very, very frightened (easily) by ghost stories and things like Halloween-haunted houses.  So, I have no idea what possessed us to try going on that ghost tour.  It scared the pants off of me!  I gave my parents a miserable time that night about going to bed in the bed-and-breakfast room (which was spooky anyway) alone.  I still remember some of those stories as really scary!

You feel as if you are losing your balance and then you tip forward and fall down. The weird part is, this pushing sensation happens on the staircase from the first to the second floor. The crazy lady is in the basement, so I'm not sure if it's her who's "pushing" us.

Wow, your house sounds great!!! My house is an original log cabin and it truly should be haunted due to the age of it. The logs on it go back to the Civil War or before. However, it was moved and reconstructed. Perhaps the ghosts are still where it used to be and they can't find the house  I know that my mother said that before my family got that property she was showing their new place to my grandmother. The log cabin is across the way and my grandmother said that it was the log cabin where so-and-so hung themselves. However, there are other log cabins around so she may have been confused. I know I haven't see any hung men hanging around my place
