I hope someone who really loves Heath gets it (in every sense of the word), not just a speculator.

What an amazing sounding object.  Yep, I hope it falls into the hands of a Brokie who will love it.  Or... I hope it "stays in the family"... so to speak.

What's the auction house?  I see the name of the specialist but not the name of the auction house.

Auction estimates can often be way off.  Get a few BWMs (brokies with money) going and the sky's the limit!

Elle, I think it's a good idea to be somewhat skeptical about this kind of sale.  As exciting as the notion is initially... it's definitely a good idea to do some homework about this chair before anyone thinks about investing money in it.  That's one reason why I asked about the auction house... if it's a well known national or international auction house that can be a very helpful sign.  If it's somewhat unknown, I might continue to be skeptical.  Also, as counter-intuitive as it might seem... certificates of authenticity are not usually considered very useful documents.  Essentially, anyone could fake a certificate of authenticity.  It's not a substitute for finding out as much as possible about where the object came from... or, for example are there pictures of Heath actually sitting in this chair somewhere out there, etc.  Or, if inspected in person, would an observer immediately notice that it doesn't have enough really evidence of daily usage or wear-and-tear to be credible, etc.

Anyway, it may be a great bit of Brokie memorabilia or it may not.  But, in any auction situation, it's best to be cautious.

Sorry, Amanda, I forgot to add the heading:

Just put in "Heath Ledger" in the Item Search window, and you'll get it right away.

Thanks for the info on the auction house.  Bonham's is a very reputatble firm, so I would give some creedence to the provenance.

Exactly.  I was overly brief in my response, but that's just what I meant.  I wasn't doubting its provenance.  I just had a mind's eye kaleidoscope of the images of him sitting on the ground listening to his music player, walking with his arm around his new love's shoulders, hovering behind Ang learning, and taciturnly staying in character.

If he spent 5 minutes sitting in that chair, good enough for me!

But it seems different from the one they're auctioning.  You can't see the green fabric by the hinges from a side view on the one he's sitting in, for one thing.

To me they look different colors. And one has a gap where the hinges are. The other one does not. I think it's not the same chair as the one in the auction.

That's one of the things I meant in my earlier post about wear-and-tear too.  The one in the auction picture looks very pristine to me... essentially it looks awfully clean to have been dragged all over Alberta and set up outside in the grass/ dirt, etc.

Maybe like wardrobe (multiple versions of the same costume)... there are multiple chairs provided?  I don't really know how all of that works on a film set.

But, I love, love, love that photo from the set, it just makes me smile. :)

Here's a photo of the woman we met in Cowley, Alberta, a very small town indeed (some of the scenes of Signal take place there).  When she saw the caravan of cowboy-hat-camera-toters, she came running out to show us what Ang had given her:

The chairs used on location seem to have different caps on the poles.  (In this photo, Heath's in a brown chair, but there's a green one in the background.)

Maybe the chair they're auctioning is one from a theater question-and-answer session or something.

Wow. What an image.

Just look at the two of them, the faces, the body language. It's Heath and Jake--but it's Ennis and Jack.

Oh my.

I'm going to snag this photo for the Heath and Jake together thread over in CT.  This may be one of the best Heath and Jake pics I can recall seeing.

Oh my.

That is exactly what I was trying to put my finger on.It is all 4 of them, sort of half in half out of character, but still seeming to show a genuine affection for each other.Unless post BBM they had a serious faling out over something, I cannot see that bond completey disintegrating.I am not lookig for them to have been lovers viva vis BBM, just to keep the obvious camaraderie they seemed to have. There are lots of shots of them together, outside of filming and they always seem at easewith each other. In fact Ennis seemed far more at ease being interviewed with Jake around than on his own.
You see plenty of actors who outside of the film can barely be civil to each other.
Anyway I am happy thinking of them as friends,so I will saty i my little bubble !!!!!
