I was prompted to start this thread after some discussions over on Dev's blog.
We all have some wonderful friends here on Bettermost, but I thought a topic on other friends in our life might be interesting......the good friends and the bad friends.
I will start off by copying the post I wrote in Dev's blog, about some BAD "friends"....(and I use that term very loosely when referring to them).
But we want to know about your GOOD friends too. After all, they are such an important part of our life, and deserve more recognition that the bad ones.
We had "friends" like that.....When we first moved up here to Maryborough.....it was Bob's home town, so he knew a lot of people. One of his old school buddies and his wife got really "pally" with us, and we enjoyed their company. The friend was out of work, and asked Bob if he had any contacts to help him, and he did, and his mate got work. Also, when they sold their house, and had a weeks gap before they could move into their new house, they asked if they could stay at our place, and we were more than happy to have them.
The final straw came, when my son got married 2years ago. These people were guests, and they also knew that Bobs brother would be coming up from Brisbane (3hours away) to attend. We got a phone call from "friend" a week before the wedding, first phone call we had had from him in probably 4 fucking months, and asked if we could ask Bobs brother if he would give him a ride back to Brisbane the day after the wedding. We told him that brother may intend to stay on up here a few days, so that would not be possible. Then "friend" was insisting that we give him brothers phone number so he could ring HIM and ask what his plans were. Talk about insistent. I finally told him that I would ring brother and ask him. ......I didnt even bother to ring brother, just rang "fucking friend" back an hour later and told him brother had other plans.
We decided we did not need people like that in our life, so just deleted them from it. We still see them occassionally because they live two doors down from my mum, but we just wave and call out hello......
FRIENDS LIKE THAT, WE CAN CERTAINLY DO WITHOUT.........
