I've tried figs, not a fan.  I don't even like fig newtons.

I know I've asked this before, but I've forgotten the answer. What's fig newtons?

It was Offline Chuck's birthday today and I took him to a place called Frank's Cafe. First time this year I have dined outside. I had a wonderful jerk chicken with coconut rice and a salad and he had salmon teriyaki. We both had sweet tea. Yummy.

I'm in SF for computer training and went to a Dim Sum place for lunch.  We actually got a table (the place was full of tourists and business people alike) and I had some of the best pork shu mei, rice with beef steamed in banana leaves, steamed pork buns and shrimp dumplings! I've never had better.  Young ladies rolled steam tables around filled with yummy dim sum and we chose what we wanted to eat. Everything looked so good!  We had to be careful not to choose too much -- the last time we ordered specials like crab and lobster and the bill came to $83.00 for 2 people!!  For something sweet we hiked up a trecherous hill in China Town for custard tarts.

Well, I can say what wasn't for breakfast this morning: whole wheat toast.

In this heat and humidity, I found that half a loaf of whole whear bread that I had in my kitchen had gone moldy.  >:(

I could have picked the moldy areas off the bread--I've done that in the past--but I just didn't feel like it. Fortunately, I also had some whole wheat bagels in the house, and they were fine.  A toasted whole wheat bagel with peanut butter, a banana, and coffee makes a fine breakfast.  :)

Somebody brought fresh figs into my office today. I'd never seen fresh figs before--I had no idea what these things were!  :laugh:

I think I prefer my figs in newtons.  ;D

For supper tonight I'm planning on roast beef with mashed potatoes gravy--in the form of a Weight Watchers entree!  :laugh:

I'll supplement with some leftover mixed vegetables--carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower--a slice of whole wheat bread, and probably a small dish of diced pears for dessert.
