And me.  But I did wonder why Cameron Diaz got Jude Law and the also ravishing Ms. Winslet got - Jack Black.  ??? :-\

Were there no other handsome American actors available for his part?

I have to admit to having a real soft spot for Jack Black!!

I like Jack Black, but I didn't like the message his choice as romantic partner sent.  If you're a tall, lovely model-looking blonde, like Cameron Diaz you can rope a man like Jude Law.  If you're not so tall, not blonde, kinda hippy, with big boobs, not shaped like a super model you get the Jack Black types.  :P

You know who would have been awesome in that Jack Black role - Paul Rudd.  He's a hottie, but has that self-deprecating thing that would have fit well with Kate's character.  I'd take Paul Rudd over Rufus Sewell (or Jude Law, come to think of it) any day.  John Cusack would have been good, too, but he's a little overused in that kind of movie.
No more beans!

I'm off to Netflix to see if I can rent that one.

Highly recommend A Christmas Memory.  The late Rev. Kennedy Shultz, my minister back at the Atlanta Church of Religious Science, used to read that aloud the Sunday before Christmas.

I hope you are able to watch it. I think it's one of those rare cases where the film is equal to the book.

I agree.  I'm not sure if it's been said, but A Christmas Memory is now on DVD.  I had been watching my old VHS all these years.

Maybe it comes from getting older and living in cynical New York, but I always get a lot of laughs watching Billy Bob Thornton in "Bad Santa."  Cloris Leachman has a funny cameo, too.  ;D

I love Cloris Leachman.  About a month ago, in the supermarket checkout line, I saw that one of the tabloids said something like, "Cloris Leachman caught in love triangle."  She's in her 80s, so go, Girl, go!

She was great in "Spanglish," a movie I (and I alone, apparently) enjoyed.

I'm watching a cute Christmas movie on Lifetime. It's called "A Different Kind of Christmas" with Shelley Long. Bruce Kirby plays Santa. :)

Hey, note to TiVo owners,

Tonight, I realized I could look up the category "holiday," and in the next two weeks, quite a few of the shows and movies listed in this thread will magically appear in my TiVo.  Of course a lot of them will have commercials, or maybe even be chopped up.  But still.
