Here's another little survey another friend sent me today.  Copy and paste and modify at will.  Enjoy.

2. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE?  Yes - my mother's best friend from childhood
3. WHEN DID YOU LAST CRY?  This morning, reading "Dead Horse Road" - it was more like my eyes were stinging with tears than I was weeping.
4. DO YOU LIKE YOUR OWN HANDWRITING?  Hell, no!  The more I use computer keyboards, the worse it gets, too.
5. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LUNCH MEAT?  Turkey
6. KIDS?  One 4 1/2 year old spitfire - I mean boy - named Will
7. IF YOU WERE ANOTHER PERSON WOULD YOU BE FRIENDS WITH YOU?  Depends on what kind of other person I was.
8. DO YOU HAVE A JOURNAL?  In my brain.
9. DO YOU USE SARCASM A LOT?  No.  Never.   
10. DO YOU STILL HAVE YOUR TONSILS?  Yes.  Probably shouldn't, as often as I had tonsilitis as a kid.
11. WOULD YOU EVER BUNGEE JUMP?  Hell, no.
12. WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CEREAL?  Honey Nut Cheerios, but lately I'm eating this stuff called "Hi-Lo" by Nutritious Living.  3 g of sugar, 6 g of fiber and 12 g of protein.  All that considered, it ain't bad.
13. DO YOU UNTIE YOUR SNEAKERS WHEN YOU TAKE THEM OFF?  No.  Don't when I put 'em on, either.
14. DO YOU THINK YOU ARE STRONG?  Physically, no.  Emotionally, usually.

WHAT IS YOUR LEAST FAVORITE THING ABOUT YOURSELF?  My impatience.  It is the mother of all my other flaws.  It's gotten better since I've had a child.  But I literally have to count to 10 and take deep breaths to keep from getting rattled when I'm waiting for something that shouldn't be taking so long.

2. WERE YOU NAMED AFTER ANYONE?  Yes, my paternal grandmother.

4. DO YOU LIKE YOUR OWN HANDWRITING?  My cursive looks like a fourth-grader's, so no.  My printing is much better as I mostly print.

I think my standards must have been too high.  It seemed like the rest of the audience laughed a lot more than I did.  It wasn't that I didn't get the jokes, I did.  Go just wanting to be entertained and you'll probably like it.   And there were several threads that never got tied up at the end, which bugged me.  I think the script needed tightening, before being shot.

I'm looking forward to "Little Miss Sunshine" coming out in a couple of weeks.  In spite of the dreaded Steve Carell (see the thread in his honor), it looks really good.  And even he looks like he rose to the occasion in the couple of previews I've seen.  And I love Greg Kinnear to pieces.  I have since his "Talk Soup" days.  Uh-oh.  Deja vu...  Have I said this very thing on this board (or somewhere) already?

Barb, i had to log in because I just remembered my favorite part of Scoop and wanted to tell you about it - the Focus Features logo at the beginning.  Ya know?  I've had that two or three times now with a movie, there's the wonderful Focus or RiverRoad beginning - and then the damn thing isn't BBM.

LOL!  In sort of related news, I went to see "Click" yesterday (not my first choice - a friend really wanted to see it - turns out it wasn't half bad (just a third bad - nyuk nyuk)), and they were showing a couple of Lions Gate previews at the beginning.  I said to my friend, "Don't hate me, but if it turns out this movie was produced by Lions Gate, I'm gonna have to leave and ask for my money back.  It's a principle thing."  Funny thing is she knows me well enough, she goes, "OK - you can go watch "Keeping up With the Steins" and I'll meet you afterwards, if that's the case."  Turns out it was Columbia/Revolution.  So she got to have the pleasure of my company.

Just came back from 'Scoop'.  Ditto.  The Focus feature logo made my stomach go flip flop and then I saw a movie that I almost walked out on.  Only Hugh Jackman kept me in my seat.

Wow.  Looks like I dodged a bullet on this one. 

I also went to see "Clerks II" this past weekend - yesterday.  I really liked the first one so I figured what the hell.  Raunchy as all get-out and so overtly sexist and oversexed that I thought I had stumbled into a Howard Stern documentary.  Of course I knew it was going to be that way going in - the first one wasn't all that different in that sense.  But darn it, I enjoyed the film, in spite of a few literally cringe-inducing moments.  I really enjoy Jason Mewes (of Jay and Silent Bob) - he's just so out there and so fully himself all the time - the guy is fearless.  He cracked me up several times in his sheer audacity.  And I think Jeff Anderson ("Randall," ironically enough) is just a naturally funny person.  Neither he nor Brian O'Halloran ("Dante") could act their way out of a paper bag in the first installment.  But I think they've taken some lessons since then - they were actually natural and believable this time around.  Anderson's comic timing was always spot on, but he didn't have the chops, ya know?

So I have a question:  What IS it with Kevin Smith that he feels the need to CONSTANTLY surmise that every male character who has the least little bit of affection for another male character is gay?  This time around, I found him doing it almost satirically - like in a self-deprecating way.  So I have to wonder - is he himself gay?  I don't normally wonder this about anyone, but me thinks the lady doth protest too much is all.

That said, the movie actually ended up being more poignant than I expected.  It showed how far Smith has come in some ways.  And how little he's changed in others.
