1st December is World AIDS Day, a day recognised by millions in more than 190 countries around the world. It’s a day devoted to raising awareness of HIV/AIDS and strengthening support for HIV positive people and those who are affected by AIDS.
On 1st December I will be wearing a red ribbon in remembrance of my friends and family (a nephew) lost to AIDS. Won’t you join me? If you live in a big city, try to get to the gay precinct and purchase a red ribbon in support of local AIDS charities. If you are not in a big city, red ribbon sales are available online.
1st December is always a day of reflection for me each year, when I remember my deceased loved ones. But it’s also a day when I feel I can contribute to the quality of life of those who are living with HIV/AIDS, by donating to my local AIDS charity.
