The Addams Family comes to Broadway
« on: September 29, 2009, 01:14:20 pm »
As always I'm a bit behind in reading my New Yorker, but over lunch today I laughed till I nearly choked on my salad over the ad in the Sept. 21 issue for the new musical based on the Addams Family. Previews begin March 4, 2010, at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater, and the casting is surely inspired: Nathan Lane (presumably Gomez) and Bebe Newirth (presumably Morticia). It's difficult to image getting better than that!

Surely this will be next spring's hot ticket!

I think I even have a dim memory of Carla on Cheers calling Bebe Neuwirth's character Morticia.

Bebe Neuwirth is absolutely perfect for the role of Morticia.

I wonder who's playing Lurch, and Uncle Fester?  ;D

For years I've been wanting to add the original series on DVD to my library. Time I got off my butt and did it.

When they made the first movie, I thought--and still think--that Angelica Huston was absolutely perfect for Morticia. For a stafe musical, I'm sure on one could be better than Bebe Neuwirth.
