The abs are fine in that photo, but he definitely needs to work on the shoulders and biceps.

And they'd better not neglect his ass. After all, Superman has to have buns of steel in those red briefs.

I find the shoulders and biceps more than acceptable but the thumbs are a bit underdeveloped. He should take some coaching from Uma Thurman...anybody seen Even Cowgirls Get the Blues?

LOVE the cleft chin, but the accent--

Oi!

He can keep the accent, as far as I'm concerned. It's delightful! Maybe that's just how people speak on the Planet Krypton.

I don't think so. Take a look at any comic book rendering of Superman. He needs good shoulders, biceps, and pecs.

But Henry looks just fine in that video about "The Tudors."  :)

(....)

Clark Kent, now there was a real gent
Even though he could have smashed through any bank
In the United States, he had the strength, but he would not

Folks said his family were all dead
Their planet crumbled but Superman, he forced himself
To carry on, forget Krypton, and keep going

Superman never made any money
For saving the world from Solomon Grundy
And sometimes I despair the world will never see
Another man like him

Sometimes when Supe was stopping crimes
I'll bet that he was tempted to just quit and turn his back
On man, join Tarzan in the forest

But he stayed in the city, and kept on changing clothes
In dirty old phonebooths till his work was through
And nothing to do but go on home

Superman never made any money
For saving the world from Solomon Grundy
And sometimes I despair the world will never see
Another man like him

Sometimes I despair the world will never see
Another man like him

It was interesting to me  (if a bit sad, too) when Henry mentioned trying on Chris Reeve's Superman costume--like the props and costumes from Brokeback, it seems there are a couple of extras, I suppose, or was--

Superman Costume in the Marketplace – “Antiquities” in Las Vegas

April 7, 2008 by Jason DeBord

An original prop collector sent me some photos taken on a trip to Las Vegas recently, of a Superman costume attributed to use by Christopher Reeve in the Superman films of the 70s and 80s. This is currently available for sale to the public at “Antiquities: The Forum Shops at Caesars Palace”.

Dear Jason:

Thank you for your interest in our amazing Superman worn costume. Yes, it indeed comes with COA and provenance that would make you very comfortable in acquiring this very special piece of movie history. One letter is Anna Mungia with Super Hollywood (one of the costumers for the Salkind family and worked for them for both movie and tv productions of Superman and Superboy), verifying the authenticity of the cape and says it was given to her as a gif for her work on the show, a part of the inventory of Disney MGM Studios in Florida. Also from Anastacia Salkind, the wife of Ilya Salkind, the producer of Superman. It will have the collector’s letter as well as certificate of authenticity. The cape also has been signed on the inside shoulder pad by both Margo Kidder (Lois Lane) and Marc McClure (Jimmy Olsen).

You probably know the one that sold at the recent celebrity auction went for over $100,000. This one is priced at $84,995 and on our spring sale, I can offer it to you for $72,250 plus $300 shipping/crating/insurnace. If you would like it, please give me a call. Or if you wish to purchase via email, please provide full shipping address, phone and credit card information. I look forward to hearing from you and also feel free to call if you want further information and we can discuss size, presentation, and any other questions.

Be well!

Dear Jason:

I think my letter said exactly who the letters are from but perhaps I wasn’t clear: Anna Mungia, one of the costume makers for Superman, and the Salkinds, who created the Superman shows. It also has a letter from the collector from whom we bought it. As far as labels, yes there are tags from the old Disney MGM Studios, Lake Buena Vista Florida. Then it says C.R. for Christoper Reeve, and has the word “Walking”, so it was a walking part in costume in the movie. If you would like to give me your phone number, perhaps we can discuss it and I can answer your questions directly and clearly.
Be well!

"Superman" (It's Not Easy)
By Five For Fighting

I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
I'm just out to find
The better part of me

I'm more than a bird, I'm more than a plane
I'm more than some pretty face beside a train
And it's not easy to be me

I wish that I could cry
Fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie
'Bout a home I'll never see

It may sound absurd but don't be naive
Even heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed but won't you concede
Even heroes have the right to dream?
And it's not easy to be me

Up up and away away from me
Well it's all right
You can all sleep sound tonight
I'm not crazy or anything

I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
Men weren't meant to ride
With clouds between their knees

I'm only a man in a silly red sheet
Digging for kryptonite on this one way street
Only a man in a funny red sheet
Looking for special things inside of me

Inside of me, inside of me, yeah
Inside of me, inside of me

I'm only a man in a funny red sheet
I'm only a man looking for a dream
I'm only a man in a funny red sheet
And it's not easy, it's not easy to be me

"Superman (It's Not Easy)" is a contemporary rock song by Five for Fighting (stage name of American singer-songwriter John Ondrasik) from his second album America Town,  released in 2000.

The lyrics are written in first-person from the superhero Superman's point of view. Although his name is never mentioned specifically, some allusions are made to Superman's costume ('a man in a funny red sheet,' i.e. Superman's red cape), powers, and origins. The narrator portrays himself as misunderstood and unsure rather than the god-like figure others see; he does not feel as powerful and perfect as people see him, and at the same time believes he is more than simply that heroic, unreal figure. Instead, he describes himself experiencing an ordinary man's struggles to understand himself, to live up to expectations, and fulfill his responsibilities, even while he is aware of how much greater his responsibilities are. Because of the way the lyrics run, it's possible both to apply them specifically to Superman as well as to anyone who feels others see him as a heroic figure, a 'superman.'

The song was featured in the Superman TV series Smallville  in episode "Stray" (1.16) in Season 1. At the end of the song's music video, John Ondrasik lies in bed with his own wife and son.

The song was first released in 2000, but became popular after the September 11, 2001 attacks on New York, entering the Hot 100 charts at #38 on October 27 and peaking at #14. The song was nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals at the 44th Grammy Awards in 2002.

In his 2010 comedy tour, Conan O'Brien sang a cover of the song by himself before Jim Carrey appeared in a Superman suit and the two men sang a duet. It's also featured in on Dawson's Creek  in season four, episode two, and on the second Dawson's Creek  soundtrack. The song was the backing track to BBC Match of the Day' s "The Story So Far", bringing the group stages of the World Cup to an end. An anonymous cover was played on the seventh series of The X Factor  after a contestant's audition. The singer of this version was speculated to be Joe McElderry, the winner of the previous series. This turned out to be true when the tracklist for his debut album Wide Awake  was revealed.

By the way--guess who's got a birthday today (April 3, 1924)!

Marlon Brando
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

(....)

Brando portrayed Superman's father Jor-El in the 1978 Superman.  He agreed to the role only on assurance that he would be paid a large sum for what amounted to a small part, that he would not have to read the script beforehand and his lines would be displayed somewhere off-camera. It was revealed in a documentary contained in the 2001 DVD release of Superman, that he was paid $3.7 million for just two weeks of work.

Brando also filmed scenes for the movie's sequel, Superman II,  but after producers refused to pay him the same percentage he received for the first movie, he denied them permission to use the footage. However, after Brando's death the footage was reincorporated into the 2006 re-cut of the film, Superman II: The Richard Donner Cut.

Two years after Brando's death, he "reprised" the role of Jor-El in the 2006 "loose sequel" Superman Returns,  in which both used and unused archive footage of Brando as Jor-El from the first two Superman films was remastered for a scene in the Fortress of Solitude, and Brando's voice-overs were used throughout the film.
