I've only watched the second so far. But seeing these videos makes me think back, to comments from Brokies, that BBM will be studied and analyzed by scholars, will be a subject at universites for years to come.  :)

Feels kinda strange to see so many different Jacks and Ennises.

I think the three women's performances are quite good.

I agree that the first ones are the best Jack and Ennis, it actually added a few nuances to that scene for me.

As for the other male performances, I find them pretty uneven, parts of them are ok, parts are not very good.

But of course, I'm very critical here. Comparing anything to the original is not really fair to those who try, as I can never be unbiased.

I've only watched the first 2 so far. Its kinda like drinking alcohol-free beer.

1. Thie Jack doesn't make it through the entire emotional journey of the scene. He seems stuck in sad mode. If the Ennis could stop smirking, he might get something like a relevant emotion across.

2. This Jack is just plain bitchy. He doesn't seem connected to Ennis at all. When Ennis collapsed, Jack's initial reaction reads like, "Oh puhleeeze." And the only himt of anger we get out of Jack is when he delivers the boy about the short leash. This Ennis was clearly going through all the emotions of the scene, but most of it could have been more pointed. He did an OK job.

I'll get to the rest eventually.

Video 2 is from UCLA. That Ennis was played by Tom Patrick. I think he has a lot more experience than any of the other students in these videos.

Continuity alert: I don't think Ennis would have been drinking Amstel Light in 1967 in Wyoming, and that plastic butane lighter wasn't around at the time.  :D

I think it's clever, but maybe not so politically correct, using short people to suggest the smaller mobile format.  I wonder if they have other movie clips performed that way.

I think its a brilliant idea for an ad. I'd like to them treat a movie like Rocky or The Godfather like this. How funny!!

I also think its great that they consider Brokeback Mountain to be a favorite movie.

Interesting to watch it in a language you don't understand.

Voice, facial expressions and body language become so much more important.

They must be good at what they're doing, coz I identified the scene within a couple of seconds!

It's strange. Even though I understand only a few words here and there, and they look nothing like Heath and Jake, and they play out the scene very differently from the movie - it still feels familiar. Go figure.

I find this interpretation quite interesting.

I can't define exactly in what way.

It isn't especially good, it isn't especially bad, it's just - interesting.

New find. It's from 2007, but I don't remember seeing it before.

Oh my - how sweet is this? I absolutely love this version! The cardboard cut-outs, the soft voice of the narrator, they way he summarizes the story, weaving in quotes. Thank you, John, for sharing. And everybody else: watch this! :D

So bittersweet. He takes a few liberties with the story line but is true to its spirit.

I quite like this version.

I don't understand Spanish, but I think they act more convincingly than many of the other interpretations I've seen.

Hey, southendmd!

Thanks for this bump! This was really interesting to see. And you're right, this is exactly what i meant on the other thread of BBM remake. There are different ways to act the lines / story out and each of them can shed a different light on the characters, the message or the story's outcome. What do the actors do while saying the lines: do they have a distance between them (as in Ang Lee's BBM) or do they have any every slight body contact; what emphasis do they put on which parts of the dialogue; what feelings do they convey. Jake G's Jack is rather angry, but how would it look like if the emphasis is put on despair instead?
I would invite any pro-actors to challenge themselves on this story. I think the breaking point would be just commitment to story and characters.
