Which Longmire novel was that?

It was Steamboat.

Tell him when l come up to him and ask to play the record, l'm gonna say: ''Voulez-vous jouer ce disque?''
'Voulez-vous, will you kiss my dick?'
Will you play my record? One-track mind!

Happy Independence Day!

I'm alone (as usual), but I'm going to be having my own "indoor picnic" of hotdogs; baked beans; potato salad; fresh, locally grown sweet corn; and strawberries in milk for dessert.  :)

Some neighbors and I all went to Dairy Queen and got Blizzards for lunch. Cookie dough, in my case.

It's rainy here so it's not a very festive 4th. But last night we went to the roof of my building and around the horizon could see a handful of fireworks shows that had been rescheduled because yesterday was sunny and warm.

I'm glad they were watching the weather reports closely! Most of my friends and neighbors dislike this holiday because their pets are traumatized by the explosions. But my cat seems oblivious and usually sleeps through it (I do too, on occasion).

I decided to take the day off from social engagements  and alternate reading with yard work. It's going well. I was able to clear away lots of clover and other weeds growing between the cracks in my flagstone patio and this evening I'm going to plant some thyme and other low growing groundcovers there. I also moved all the excess furniture stored under my deck to the back lawn where I can hose it down, clean it, and restore the rattan to life. Then, I've swept up the leaves and debris hidden there and am reimagining that space. In between bouts of work I'm reading the new Tommy Orange novel Wandering Star.

I had my usual breakfast, a salad for lunch, and dinner will be a burrito and ice cream.

Very shortly now, as soon as I set up the portable DVD player, I'll have my 4th of July tradition of watching the movie Yankee Doodle Dandy, with Jimmy Cagney as George M. Cohan,
