Here are the answers played so far, in alphabetical order.

The most recent one added is in bolded black.

A dust plume rose and hazed the air with fine grit and he squinted against it.

A hot jolt scalded Ennis and he was out on the landing pulling the door closed behind him.

A slow corrosion worked between Ennis and Alma, no real trouble, just widening water.

Aguirre came by again. Says my uncle didn't die after all.  Says bring 'em down.

All I'm sayin', is what's the point of makin' it? If the taxes don't get me, the inflation will eat it all up

All them things I don’t know could get you killed if I should come to know them.

All this time, and you ain't found nobody else to marry?

Alma asked Ennis to use rubbers because she dreaded another pregnancy.

Alma Jr. looks around the nearly empty trailer, an homage to plains-like minimalism.

Alma, this is Jack Twist, Jack, my wife Alma.

Alma, you want smokes there's some in the pocket of my blue shirt in the bedroom.

And maybe, he thought, they'd never get much farther than that.

And that's the story of my saddle bronc' career.

And we can just live together herding sheep.  And it'll rain money from LD Newsome and whiskey'll flow in the streams - Jack, that's real smart.

Around that time Jack began to appear in his dreams...

As far behind as we are on the bills it makes me nervous not to take no precautions.

As for our marriage, we could do it over the phone.

Besides, I'm scared for Jenny. Scared if she has another one of them bad asthma spells.

Besides, the sonofabitch is cutting us out of whole month's pay.

Bet you could fix this place up real nice if you'd want to.

Bout all the travelin' I ever done is goin' aroun' the coffee pot, lookin' for the handle.

Bring home some round steak if ya think of it.

Brokeback Mountain, by Annie Proulx, author of the Shipping News

Bumping down the washboard road Ennis passed the country cemetery fenced with sagging sheep wire.....

But beats workin' for my old man.  Can't please my old man, no way.

But knowing Jack, it might be some pretend place where bluebirds sing and there's a whiskey spring.

But like most a Jack's ideas it never come to pass.

But while he was hosin me down I seen he had some extra material that I was missin.

By nightfall it turned colder.

By rights I should be spendin the night here.

By the time someone came along he had drowned in his own blood.

Can't believe I left my damn shirt up there....

Christ, it got a be all that time a yours ahorseback makes it so goddamn good.

Count the damn few times we been together in twenty years.

Daddy?  Bye, Daddy!

Daddy, tell about when you rode broncs in the rodeo.

Dawn came glassy orange, stained from below by a gelatinous band of pale green.

Didn't that pissant used to ride the bulls?

Don't let 'em stray.  Joe'll have your ass, if you do.

Doubt there's a filly that could throw me!

Drop me a line if you can, say if your there

Drove grooves across Texas. Half the time under that cunt truck fixin' it.

Drunks like you, demandin' beer after beer.  Smokin'.  Gets tiresome.

Dumb ass mule

Earlier today I was castratin' calves.

Ennis, could you wipe Alma Jr's nose? If I had three hands I could!

Ennis had come up behind him and pulled him close, the silent embrace satisfying some shared and sexless hunger.

Ennis jerked his hand away as though he'd touched fire.

Ennis, just quit your hammering and get in here!

Ennis knew the salty words to Strawberry Roan.

Ennis, not big on endearments, said what he said to his horses and daughters, little darlin.

Ennis pulled Jack's hand to his mouth, took a hit from the cigarette, exhaled

Ennis, what are you lookin' for rootin' through them postcards?

Ever notice how a woman'll powder her nose before a party starts, and then powder it again when the party's over?

Fast or slow, I like the direction you're going.

Figured you was sore about that punch.

...for he loved a little dog.

Forest Service got designated campsites on the allotments.

Freeze your ass off when the fire dies down.  Better off sleepin in the tent.

Fridays twelve noon be down at the bridge with your next week list and mules.

Friend a mine got his oil checked with a horn dipstick and that was all she wrote.

"Friend," said Jack, "we got us a fuckin' situation here.  Got a figure out what to do."

Friend this letter is a long time over due.

Fuck Aguirre!

"Get beaver fever doin that," said Ennis.

Get the fuck off me.

Goddamn pup tent smells like cat piss or worse.

Gotta go, got fourteen hours of driving ahead of me.

Got to tell you friend maybe somebody seen us that summer.

Got you a extra blanket I'll roll up out here and grab forty winks, ride out at first light.

He always said he wanted his ashes scattered on Brokeback Mountain, but I wasn't sure where that was.

He didn't see his girls for a long time figuring they would look him up when they got the sense and years to move out from Alma.

He felt about as bad as he ever had, and it took a long time for the feeling to wear off.

He had shot an eagle, he said, turned his head to show the tail feather in the hatband.

He had some  money now and found ways to spend it on his buying trips.

He had wanted to be a sophomore, felt the word carried a kind of distinction.

He has to be packed and away from the place that morning.

He lifted it off the nail.

He might have to stay with his married daughter until he picks up another job, yet he is suffused with a sense of pleasure because Jack Twist was in his dream.

He stepped back and looked at the ensemble through a few stinging tears.

He thought he was too goddamn special to be buried in the family plot.

He wouldn't listen to me if he was going deaf tomorrow.

He's got a little cabin down on Lake Kemp.

He's spurrin' his guts out, wavin' to the girls in the stands.

Hell for all I know he done the job.

Hell, we don't eat with our eyes.

Here she comes, ladies and gentlemen, look at her fly... Miss Lureen Newsome from right here in Childress, Texas....

Hey asshole, watch where you're going!

Hey, Ennis, you know somebody name a Jack?

Hey, you boys wanna keep it down, I got two little girls here.

...his boots were worn to the quick, holed beyond repair, and he was crazy to be somewhere, anywhere else than Lightning Flat.

His reflexes were uncommonly quick and he was farsighted enough to dislike reading anything except Hamley's saddle catalog.

Honey, you seen my blue parka?

How come we didn't get the powdered milk and the spuds?

I can't make it on a couple of high altitude fucks once or twice a year.

I don't get you, Ennis del Mar.

I doubt I'll feel nothin'.

I doubt there's a filly that can throw me.

I figured you were sore from that punch.

I got a boy.  8 months old. Smiles a lot.

I had to ask about ten different people in Riverton where you had moved to.

I kept his room like it was when he was a boy, I think he appreciated that.

I know I shall meet you on that final day.  Water Walkin' Jesus, take me away. (Ver' good.)

I looked in the case first chance I got and there was my note still tied there

I mean big farm equipment.

I might be back, if the army don't get me!

I never had no thoughts a doin it with another guy except I sure wrang it out a hunderd times thinkin about you.

I never met them.  They didn't come down for the funeral.

I spend half the night checking for damn coyotes.

I thought Brokeback Mountain was around where he grew up.

I told her strong backs and weak minds run in my family.

I told Randall we oughta take the car, course he don't ever listen to me.

I used a want a boy for a kid, but just got little girls.

I was hopin' you'd be there.

I was just sending up a prayer of thanks for you forgetting to bring that harmonica.

I was just thinkin' out loud.

If you can't fix it, Jack, you gotta stand it.

If you need smokes Alma, they're in the top pocket of my blue shirt .. there in the bedroom.

I'll make him eat the fuckin floor and you too.

I'll see you next month, then.

I'll tell you this - I can't quit this one.

I'm getting tired of your dumb ass missing.

I'm gonna be eatin' this food for the next two weeks.

I'm stuck with what I got, caught in my own loop.

If he was alive and was to put his head in that door right now you bet he'd go get his tire iron.

In a disquieting way everything seemed mixed.

In December Ennis married Alma Beers and had her pregnant by mid-January.

In the end the stud duck refused to let Jack's ashes go.

Is there anything interesting up there in heaven?

It don't happen in Wyomin' and if it does I don't know what they do, maybe go to Denver.

It said, hello Ennis, bring some fish home, love, Alma.

It was big enough, warm enough, and in a little while, they deepened their intimacy considerably.

It was his own plaid shirt, lost, he's thought, long ago in some damn laundry....

It's all we got boy, fuckin' all, so I hope you know that if you don't never know the rest.

It's guys with money go to college, trained athaletes.

It's nobody's business but ours.

It's Saturday night.  We could still smarten up, head over to the church social.

Jack and Ennis passed a joint back and forth, the fire burning late.

Jack, I got a work... you ever hear a child support?

Jack, I swear.

Jack in his dark camp saw Ennis as night fire, a red spark on the huge black mass of mountain.

Jack kept his friends' addresses in his head.

Jack leaned against the steady heartbeat, the vibrations of the humming like faint electricity....

Jack pulled a squalling burr out of his harmonica.

Jack said he was doing all right, but he missed Ennis bad enough sometimes to make him whip babies.

Jack slid his cold hand between Ennis's legs said he was worried about his boy who was no doubt about it dyslexic or something...

Jack Twist?  Jack Nasty!

Jack used a say, "Ennis Del Mar," he used a say.

Jack used to mention you.  You're the fishing buddy or the hunting buddy, I know that.

Jack's mother stood at the table coring apples with a sharp serrated instrument.

Late in the afternoon, thunder growling, that same old green truck rolled in...

Let's get on in there and untangle them Chilean sheep out of ours, I guess.

Let's git, unless you want to sit around tying knots all day.

Like I said, Alma and me's gettin married in December.

Like it or not, here I am!

Like to buy Jimbo a beer.  Best rodeo clown I ever worked with.

Like vast clouds of steam from thermal springs in winter, the years of things unsaid, and now unsayable, rose around them.

Looks like I got the message in any case.

Lureen's old man wouldn't give me a dime if I dropped it, except one way.

Makin' a livin's about all I got time for now.

Maybe he's not the marryin' kind.

Money's a good point.

My momma, she believes in the Pentecost.

My old lady's trying to get me to quit this job.

Neither of them was twenty.

No doubt about it, she was polite but the little voice was cold as snow.

No, he thought, they got him with the tire iron.

No more beans!

No more dancin' for me, I hope.

No one's gonna love you like me.

Nothing ended, nothing begun, nothing resolved.

Now honey, you know I ain't set up for that.

Now sit the hell down before I knock your ignorant ass into next week.

Oh hell, backseat of the car where I left 'em. Rodeo can get 'em.

Oh, you was Tri Delt?  I was Kappa Phi myself.

Ol' Brokeback got us good, don't it?

OLD BROKEBACK GOT US GOOD AND IT SURE AIN'T OVER.

On the back of a soiled orange chair he saw the shine of a buckle.

On the third morning there were the clouds Ennis had expected....

One thing never changed: the brilliant charge of their infrequent couplings was darkened by the sense of time flying, never enough time, never enough.

"One's enough," said Ennis.

Our husbands ain't the least bit interested in dancing, they don't have a smidgen of rhythm between 'em.

"Please to meet you," said Jack, trembling like a run-out horse.

Point is, we both should be in this camp.

Pulling bulls off you buckaroos is just my job.

Ranch stiffs ain't never no good.

Redlined it all the way, couldn't get here fast enough.

Roll up that tent every mornin' case Forest Service snoops around.

S'alright. S'alright. S'alright.

Save your money for your next entry fee, cowboy.

See ya for supper

Señor?

She had seen what she had seen.

Shut up about Alma.  This ain't her fault.

"Shut up," he said.  "Mind your own business.  You don't know nothin about it."

...sitting between his girls and talking horses to them, telling jokes, trying not to be a sad daddy.

So now he knew it had been the tire iron.

So, what's the occasion?

Some of these never went up there with you.

Speak for yourself. You may be a sinner, but I ain't yet had the opportunity.

Stoutamire is a hellraiser, and he raised hell about me takin' the week.

Sure as hell seem in one piece to me.

Swear, I didn't know we were gonna get into this again.

Tell you what, we could a had a good life together, a fuckin real good life.

Tell you what, we got a family plot and he's goin in it.

Tent don't look right.

Thank you, ma'am, I'll take a cup a coffee but I can't eat no cake just now.

That spring, hungry for any job, each had signed up with Farm and Ranch Employment.

That "stay with the sheep, no fire" bullshit.  Aguuirre's got no right makin' us do somethin' against the rules.

That sure looks like a winning ride to me.

That's how come, well, me end up here.

That's one a the two things I need right now.

The huge sadness of the northern plains rolled down on him.

The mountain boiled with demonic energy....

The room stank of semen and smoke and sweat and whiskey, of old carpet and sour hay, saddle leather, shit and cheap soap.

The shirts hanging on a nail shudder slightly in the draft.

The sounds were of squalling and sucking and Alma's sleep groans.

The string of spare horses included a mouse-colored grullo whose looks Ennis liked.

The tone was bitter and accusatory.

The what?  Uh, ketchup.

The wind strikes the trailer like a load of dirt coming off a dump truck, eases, dies, leaves a temporary silence.

The wind was gusting hard and cold.

Them camps can be a couple a miles away from where we pasture the sheep.

Them sheep will drift if I don't get back up there tonight.

Then I met olld Randall here at an Aggie game.

...then there was forty feet of distance between them and nothing to do but drive away in opposite directions.

Then this spring he got another fella gonna come up here with him.

There ain't no reins on this one.

There was some open space between what he knew and what he tried to believe.

There were only the two of them on the mountain flying in the euphoric, bitter air....

There's  a cheap place in Riverton, over the laundromat. I bet I could fix it up real nice.

They fended off the night for an hour with the yellow kerosene lamp.

They shook hands in the choky little trailer office in front of a table littered with scribbled papers....

They was tough old birds.

They went at it in silence except for a few sharp intakes of breath and Jack's choked gun's goin off, then out, down and asleep.

They were no longer young men with all of it before them.  (twice)

They were raised on small, poor ranches in opposite corners of the state...

They were respectful of each other's opinions, each glad to have a companion where none had been expected.

Thought you said that mare couldn't throw you.  Well, she got lucky.

Too early in the summer to be sick of beans.

Took me about a year a figure out it was that I shouldn't a let you out a my sights.

Trying to get a foot rub, dummy.

Too late to go up to them damn sheep.

Twenty minutes on they surprised a black bear on the bank above them rolling a log over for grubs...

Twist, your uncle Harold's in the hospital with pneumonia.  Docs don't expect he'll make it.

Uh, yeah, she's in the condiments aisle.

Up with the sheep all day, I get down here, hungry as hell, and all I find is beans...

Want a cup of coffee, don't you?  Piece of cherry cake?

Was you Tri Delt? I was Kappa Phi myself.

We can hunt in November, kill a nice elk.

We got to stick this out Jack.

We ought to go down there some weekend.

We ought to go to Mexico.

We was fishing buddies.

We'll more'n likely just go out and get drunk.

We're supposed to guard the sheep, not eat them.

Wedding'll be June fifth at the Methodist Church.  Jenny's singing, and Monroe's gonna cater the reception.

Well, I don't eat soup.

Well, I'm goin' a warsh everthing I can reach.

Well, look what the wind blew in.

Well, you're goin' a go where you look.

Well, see you around, I guess.

What are you waiting for cowboy, a mating call?

What do you think?  Your daddy ever gonna see fit to settle down again?

What I don't know, all them things I don't know could get you killed should I come to know them.

What I'm sayin, Jack, I built a life up in them years.

What if Aguirre finds out?  We're supposed to guard the sheep, not eat 'em.

What in hell happened, Ennis?

When I was right out of SMU, I coulda had my pick of pretty much any job in North Dallas, so my pick was Neiman Marcus which was a disaster because where clothes is concerned, honey, I got no resistance.

When it came -- thirty cents -- he pinned it up in his trailer, brass-headed tack in each corner.

When the Hi-Top folded, they moved to a small apartment in Riverton up over a laundry.

When we split up after we got paid out I had gut cramps so bad I pulled over and tried to puke, thought I ate somethin bad at that place in Dubois.

Why can't your buddy come down here to Texas and fish?

Whoa, whoa, whoa.  It ain't goin a be that way.

Without getting up he threw deadwood on the fire, the sparks flying up with their truths and lies.

Woman talks a blue streak.

Won't get much sleep.  I'll tell you that.

Yeah, Daddy, he loves me.

Yeah, that little punch a yours surprised me.  I never figured you to throw a dirty punch.

Yeah, she's in the condiments aisle.  The what?  Uh, ketchup.

Years on years they worked their way through the high meadows and mountain drainages....

You always said you caught plenty, and you know how me and the girls like fish.

You are welcome to go up in his room if you want.

You boys wasn't getting paid to leave the dogs babysit the sheep while you stemmed the rose.

You come back and see us again.

You don't go up there to fish.

You don't say much, but you get your point across.

You don't think I'm too fast, do you?

You don't think I'm too fast, do you?  Maybe we should put the brakes on.

You girls need a push or somethin'?

You gonna do this again next summer?

You got no fuckin idea how bad it gets.

You had a fuckin' week to say some little word about it.

You know I ain't queer.

You know, I used to wonder how come you never brought any trouts home.

You know it could be like this, just like this, always.

You ought to get married again, Ennis.

You sure the girls are asleep?  I'm sure.

You know you're worse than Bobby when it comes to losing things.

You know, your friend could come inside, have a cup of coffee.

You may kiss the bride,  and if you don't I will.

You oughtta get married again, Ennis.

You still go fishin' with that Jack Twist?

You used a come away easy.  It's like seein the pope now.

You want some a this hot water? There's plenty.

You'll get pitched off your mount in a storm like this.

You'll run them sheep off again if you don't quiet down.

You'll want to watch it there.  That horse has a low startle point.

You're nineteen, guess you can do whatever you want.

You're the fishin' buddy, or the huntin' buddy. I know that.

You're the only combine salesman in fact.

You're too much for me, Ennis, you son of a whoreson bitch.

Your brother and sister do right by you?

Your folks just stop at Ennis?
