Lake Geneva by B73
« on: October 19, 2006, 05:31:08 pm »
I spent summers on a lake in New Hampshire, so the imagery of two young men whiling away the summer hours is very appealing to me. This is an AU!AU story with Jack and Ennis in the summer of 1952. Ten chapters have been completed so far. Chapter 1 starts here:

http://b73.livejournal.com/40313.html

following chapters can be accessed with the "next entry" link.

Enjoy...

Awsome Leslie! I plan on starting it tonight... I've been reading Mason Dixon and Portrait of a Farmer and love them both, so I'm excited about this one  :)
‘cause the truth is, I already give him everythin’ I got to give, more than I ever even knew I had; ‘n it all for him, all of it, him who is my brother, my father, my child, my friend, my lover, my heart, my soul; my Ennis.

Chapter 14 is up:  http://b73.livejournal.com/44105.html

This one really felt like the "coming back down the mountain" part of BBM.  So heartbreaking, watching them deal with their upcoming separation.  Yet, they at least have the promise that they will see each other again - something Jack and Ennis in the OS didn't have.

And those last two words from Ennis on the train platform -  my heart just melted.

Anyone else still reading this???

I finally sat down and read this and from ch. 1 could not walk away. I'm continually amazed how beautiful this author's writing is, this story blew me away!  :)

Hard to keep up with this story! I liked it a lot, even though the emotion was a bit too much at times for two 17 year old boys.. I am glad that this time she truly did choose a happy ending... ;)

I'm so excited, I had thought that the first Home on the Range was going to be a one-shot, now we have a full fledged sequel going!  ;D

Of course, i haven't read this chapter yet, so it may be ending after this, but i hope not...

I found "Lake Geneva" lovely & amazing, heart-breaking and romantic and sexy. ***SPOILER*** I was so afraid Mr. Twist was gonna find them out! I love these stories where J&E are young and discover their way to love each other. - cc33 / Leslie K.

I know this is a lake geneva thread, but does anyone know if Maggie plans to continue with Catch the Westbound? I just found that one... read through it in a day, then realized it was a sequel and went back and read Union Pacific and Signal Crossing. Every time I read one of her stories I fall in love...

I believe there is also the conclusion to Catch the Westbround in B73's LJ. And a goodbye message...

Hello, most likely nobody will read this anymore, but does anybody know if I could find "Lake Geneva" or some other stories from B73 on another website, now that the lifejournal has been deleted ? I really loved them and would like to read them again.

Many thanks

Caramelle

I had no idea there even was a Lake Geneva thread :)I´m reading Lake Geneva at the moment and it´s not the first time. It´s so damn beautiful. The larger than life emotions, the similarities between Lake Geneva and Brokeback Mountain, the angst and the love. It causes me to cry, laugh and get turned on all at the same time.
Had no idea it had a sequel though. It´s so sad that it´s so hard to find any of her stuff anymore :(
