Fear The Walking Dead - Series 2

Coming August 23rd, Walking Dead fans will have a "companion" show to watch, that is titled "Fear The Walking Dead".

The Walking Dead follows a group of survivors who are trying to stay alive during the zombie apocalypse.  Society has already broken down, and martial law and "survival of the fittest" is firmly in place.

"Fear The Walking Dead" doesn't feature any of the characters from the original show.   FTWD is a stand-alone project, which is telling us the story of society at the very beginning of the zombie apocalypse, when just a very few zombies are around:  "What's happening?"  "Why?"  "What are authorities/government doing?"   we basically watch as societies crumble, and the zombies rise to power.

I'll probably wait and see what the reviews say and decide accordingly. I watch TWD mainly because I started watching with my son so we could hang out together and now I've gotten so involved with the characters I can't stop. But these will be whole new characters, so unless the series is reported to be really good I'll probably try not to get hooked.

I'm starting to feel like there's too much to watch on TV already. I'm working my way through The Sopranos, I haven't even started this season of OITNB, Masters of Sex premiered last night, and I'm on Episode 4 of True Detective.

And I rarely watch more than one show a night. So I'm getting backed up. TV is getting to be like my teetering stack of New Yorkers!  :laugh:

Oh, that's funny!   I intend to watch, as I really don't follow much TV.  Right now it's just Modern Family, RuPaul's Drag Race, and Walking Dead.

Looks like they're going to focus, at least for a while, on earliest stages of the zombie apocalypse. That would be interesting, because we missed that phase in the original. Potentially it could be more interesting than the stage Rick & Co. are at now.

Yes, that's what some people on the 'net are saying.  We get to see how they handle the whole "collapse of society" stage.

I liked the characters almost immediately. They are nicely flawed and believable. I especially liked the teenaged son with the addiction issues. But what about that awkward student who was found with a knife, he seems to know more than anyone about what's going on. What has he seen?

I don't think we'll be seeing that awkward student again....just a feeling that I have.  I think he was there to move things along a bit, he did his job, and he's gone.

I want to know how they're going to address the addiction during all this....there's got to be some drastic withdrawal consequences for going 'cold turkey', and it's not like he can get a fix in a zombie outbreak.

Well, I couldn't have been more wrong, huh?  LOL   I did like the way he was sure about what had to be done, but the woman just couldn't grasp that her friend wasn't her friend any more.

I thought it was rather lame to have him ask for his knife back. I mean, surely he could have gotten another one at a sporting goods store or something. Other than that I really enjoyed the episode.

That knife really isn't a good weapon.  You have to get very close to a walker to use it, and we have to remember, these walkers are 'fresh', so they'll  be harder to kill.  The walkers on TWD have been dead a while, so their flesh is rotting off them, and their bones are easier to kill

Last episode of Fear The Walking Dead starts tonight.

I have to say, when Madison started to beat the shit out of Nick that one episode, I felt so good for her.  Especially after he was taking the morphine of a dying man.

I think we'll finally see a zombie attack tonight. 

As for that light that has been flashing from the house......I don't know why, but I'm getting the feeling it's Tobias, the awkward student that was with Madison when the principal attacked as a zombie.
