New award chance for BBM
« on: April 09, 2006, 01:17:41 pm »
I imagine that every Tremblayan would be glad to know that BBM has got a new nomination here in Italy.
On April 21, the Italian Cinema Academy, whose President is legendary movie critic Gian Luigi Rondi, will award the 2006 David di Donatello prizes (the Italian equivalent to Oscars or BAFTAs), and among the nominees for best foreign film, you guess, is BBM.
Our beloved movie will have to contend the award with  "A HISTORY OF VIOLENCE", "CRASH" (once again!), "GOOD NIGHT, AND GOOD LUCK" and "TSOTSIE".
I really hope the spirit of the Golden Lion BBM won in Venice 2005 - i.e. where the whole BBM story began - will be present that night, and hopefully Italy will recognize once again this masterpiece.
I'll be watching the event on TV, that night - wonder if part of the cast or Ang Lee will attend - and will keep you posted. Let's cross our fingers,
Luigi

By the way, the Italian Cinema Academy site is: www.daviddidonatello.it
