Looks like it might be good.  I have set my RePlay TV recorder for it.

Is John Stamos gay friendly in real life?    I thought I read that he wasn't.   :-\

I'd hate to think a homophobe was cashing in on the topic.

Maybe I'm wrong and it is someone else.

More information and opinions about Wedding Wars, showing on A&E Monday the 11h at 9PM ET.

Here's one that includes an interview with the gay producers of the movie and a simple direct statement from John Stamos, who is on the cover of the Advocate.  David, he is definitely the reverse of homophobic in this story.

http://www.houstonvoice.com/2006/12-9/arts/television/feature.cfm

That article suggests how the movie blends familiar and unfamiliar representations of gay people among the strikers so as to find the TV audience where it is but also move it a little way along.

And here's a Canadian perspective from the Globe and Mail which ties it in to this week's legalization of same-sex marriage there.

God, when I first heard about this, I thought it was going to be another "Will & Grace" style atrocity; straight people portraying gay men and women and  turning us into a joke so straight people can sit in the comfort of their own homes and laugh their asses off at us... even though they don't know the first thing about gay culture or gay life, and wouldn't take the time to learn about us even if they were given a chance. There have been way too many sitcoms and shows that portray gay men as sex addicted freakish buffoons. "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" is another show I loath and detest.

But 'Wedding Wars" actually sounds pretty good. I have been seeing the advertisement for this show appearing on A&E.

Let's just hope and pray this movie will actually do some good for the American gay community.

Besides I always did think John Stamos was a hunk.  :)

Don't know about you guys' neck of the woods, but down here in Dubyaland, it seems to be promoted as a kind of swishy comedy.

Is it just Texas?

They always promote stuff to make it sound like 'more of what you already enjoy and are used to'.   In this case, they are stressing the entertainment aspects so that the entertainment-lovers are not put off by the serious side of the theme.  Did you read any of the articles?

You're welcome!  :)

I found those over on the IMDb website, so you may want to consult your TV Guide just to make sure they are correct. I believe those times and dates are in EST. Again, you should probably consult your TV Guide to make sure.

Thanks for the heads up on Wedding Wars.

I'm in Texas this month - thought I might as well stay for the holidays with family.  Hey, Dellaluvia, I must be somewhere near you this month.

Heading up to NYC (Soho - I believe)  at the end of the month for three months.  We're going to make my movie!  Okay, well, just a 106 minute documentary I wrote and will co-direct, shot on 24P (but transferred to 35mm print)...but at least we're over the financing hump. It's either going to be fabulous - or absolute crap.  I've tried my best to work in so many references to BBM as I could, but the subject matter is so not BBM.  But I did find a great quote on Wikipedia that I am going to use in the opening credits - "Gay Cowboys are the new Penguins."

I digress....

Earlier this year back in Los Angeles, I was restaurant hopping with some gay Industry buds of mine, and my director/producer partner sees John Stamos at a table mostly of men, most of them gay.  He goes over to someone he knows and says hello, and is then introduced to John.    I thought it was kind of odd that John was hanging out being all cozy with the gay crowd - kinda like the time Fred Savage spent a month or so slumming at the Abbey in West Hollywood.  Now I guess I know why - research for Wedding Wars?

Oh well, it was exciting to have him on the team for a little while.

Hey Dellaluvia, near Corpus Christi...way south.  If Bill Clinton could brave it here (like he did last week), then so can I.  Lol.

Oh yeah, I might have to change that Wikipedia reference to something like "Dancing Penguins are the new Gay Cowboys."  Gotta stay up to date.

Corpus is...nice.  8)  And waaaaaaay south of Dallas.  At least the weather will very likely be nice and warm.

Well, heck, what's better than spending Christmas in a town called 'Body of Christ'?   O0 O0
