As moderator of the Open Forum, I'm biased, but I feel very strongly that the OF should be the place for analysis of the movie and story, regardless of who starts the thread or whether the topic dates back to the old days. I like Meryl's idea of moving of some of those older analytical threads from here to there. Many of the most active participants in those discussions are not members of the original PT community. They came here from imdb but later, or they came from LiveJournal or somewhere else. And I would guess that some of those people, not being familiar with PT history, might feel most comfortable discussing the movie there, although many of them post here, too. Likewise, I hope that Tremblayans feel fully comfortable participating in those great conversations on the OF, and would think of that as the place to start new threads analyzing the movie and story.

I like the idea of designating CT for announcements, fun stuff, conversation. Meanwhile, though, as time goes on, some of the original Tremblayans understandably have become less active on the boards. In order to keep the CT board dynamic it seems important to make sure newer members feel welcome here, too (as I'm sure many already do). I think the biggest challenge in the idea of preserving CT as a meeting ground for Tremblayans and storehouse for Tremblay history is finding a way to do that without simultaneously making non-Tremblayans feel like they don't belong here. Jenny, I really like your ideas for alternative titles for the CT board; they sound very inclusive and welcoming.

When defining places for thread topics, some inevitably are going to fall in the cracks. There are threads on both CT and the OF, for example, about people's real-life connections to BBM. Maybe the best approach is not to worry too much about where those middle-ground threads end up. If everybody feels comfortable moving freely among all the boards, that shouldn't be a problem.

Personally, my computer's bookmark is still set to open the CT page. But once I get here, I usually click on the "new replies" or "unread posts" link to look for interesting new posts, wherever they are.

Jenny, I hear your concern, and I think I understand it.

It seems like it partly has to do with contraction and expansion.  Was a time we needed to hunker down and hide in the IMDb Pierre Tremblay board to keep safe.  Now we have a whole big website to roam all around and get creative in.  Every BetterMost forum has Tremblayans who make themselves right at home.  Of the 15 BetterMost moderators and administrators, at least 8 of them are original Tremblayans.  I think that says a lot about our having made the whole of BetterMost our home.

I was slow to warm up to the idea (a few months ago) of moving threads out of CT, but I'm all for it now.  I want movie and story anaylsis threads in one place.  I want social events threads in one place.

Re the subtitle "The BetterMost Cyber CafĂ© - Want a cuppa coffee, don'tcha? Piece a cherry cake?"  The two Chez Tremblay mods and I came up with that together.  And David was right, if someone objected, or had another idea, they would speak up.  When the new subtitle has been decided, let me or Phillip know, and it can be changed quick as a whistle.

Once a Tremblayan always a Tremblayan, but I'm a proud and happy BetterMostian now too.

I was out for a really good long while.  I only have two issues since I've been back, and I think there's little to be done about them/it's my fault, as follows: (1) the discussions just don't move as fast as the IMDB board discussions; and (2) I have a hard time finding threads.  But really the thread-finding issue is more about getting bogged down catching up on older posts that I missed when I was elsewhere.  Probably the worst confusion comes when my Tremblay friends have new IDs here and I wasn't around when they changed.

It was inevitable, of course, for folks to need to get more back into their lives, with the added benefit of the experiences together from IMDB and this board.  But I have great friends from school that I only really see once or twice a year.  Although the relationship has changed, the affection has not.  Here in cyberspace it is easier in many ways to continue to be in one another's lives.

Thanks for keeping it going, and welcoming me back in.  Happy anniversary everyone.

Happy anniversary to you, Mark!

It may be true that the threads don't move as fast as the imdb board discussions, but I think there are several reasons for this, and a couple of them of them are good, or at least neutral: 1) No trolls or naysayers 2) The discussions are spread among a bunch of different forums, as opposed to all on one board. Maybe it's true that people don't post as often here (hard to tell, and it probably varies from one day to the next). But those other two factors make a big difference.

As for finding threads, maybe you alread do this, but I'm not sure everybody does, so just in case you haven't: Those links near the top of the page, "Show unread posts since last visit" and "Show new replies to your posts," are really handy. I don't know what I'd do without them for finding new threads, or finding new additions to threads on which I've already posted. Those are the first things I click on, usually (unless I have messages!).

Yes Mark, welcome back! We haven't ever talked much but I know who you are! I hope there is an anniversary chat set up for when the Aero anniversary rolls around (right after my b-day!) and if so, hope you will be there.

Thanks Katherine, too, for the encouragement to use the two links at the top; I never do. Mostly because I think there are going to be too many to look at in the "unread posts" one...

By the way, it's been a week or so now since I suggested the poll for choosing the new subtitle of our community here (shown in the main forums page) and people seemed to like the ideas I put out there, so how about it Mods? Can you make a poll up? or give me permission to do it (I woudn't presume to do that kind of thing on my own).

Wow, an Aero Anniversary chat is a great idea.  What was the date of that?   I'm happy to organize it, if someone can tell me the date.

Let's see, the HRC Gala in NYC that I went to where Ang and Anne were at was on Feb 11th (day after my b-day!) and that was a Saturday, the night of the blizzard. Aero would have been that Monday, the 13th.

There you go, February 13th is the Anniversary of the Aero pilgrimmage -- and is, of course, duly noted in the Cult Calendar.
