As moderator of the Open Forum, I'm biased, but I feel very strongly that the OF should be the place for analysis of the movie and story, regardless of who starts the thread or whether the topic dates back to the old days. I like Meryl's idea of moving of some of those older analytical threads from here to there. Many of the most active participants in those discussions are not members of the original PT community. They came here from imdb but later, or they came from LiveJournal or somewhere else. And I would guess that some of those people, not being familiar with PT history, might feel most comfortable discussing the movie there, although many of them post here, too. Likewise, I hope that Tremblayans feel fully comfortable participating in those great conversations on the OF, and would think of that as the place to start new threads analyzing the movie and story.
I like the idea of designating CT for announcements, fun stuff, conversation. Meanwhile, though, as time goes on, some of the original Tremblayans understandably have become less active on the boards. In order to keep the CT board dynamic it seems important to make sure newer members feel welcome here, too (as I'm sure many already do). I think the biggest challenge in the idea of preserving CT as a meeting ground for Tremblayans and storehouse for Tremblay history is finding a way to do that without simultaneously making non-Tremblayans feel like they don't belong here. Jenny, I really like your ideas for alternative titles for the CT board; they sound very inclusive and welcoming.
When defining places for thread topics, some inevitably are going to fall in the cracks. There are threads on both CT and the OF, for example, about people's real-life connections to BBM. Maybe the best approach is not to worry too much about where those middle-ground threads end up. If everybody feels comfortable moving freely among all the boards, that shouldn't be a problem.
Personally, my computer's bookmark is still set to open the CT page. But once I get here, I usually click on the "new replies" or "unread posts" link to look for interesting new posts, wherever they are.
