Yes, Clarissa and LJ, you remember correctly!
So I'll continue with my saga -
As I posted last time, the billboard is now no longer at Tower Records.
I usually don't get to this neighborhood, but it was still there last Monday (12-18) and I was amazed that it was still up!
I would really hate to see it thrown away or covered with graffiti after Tower Records closes for good.
I figured that I could surely find it a loving Brokie home somewhere. So, I was thinkin that I would like to be a good guy and save it. I asked Tower Records and they told me to call the company that put it up. They said they were selling the 6' by 6' displays for $150 or "best offer." When I asked about the 20' by 8' BBM billboard, they said they would have to check about how much it would go for, as taking it down would require ladders and screw guns. Based upon the huge size of the BBM billboard, I figured that this could get really expensive.
I was overjoyed when I called back two days later and was told I could have it for $150!
So I quick found a friend with a truck and we red-lined it over to Tower Records. I took another photo for old time's sake. Since it's been there for almost a year, that ivy was really taking over and there was already some black graffiti circles at the bottom left corner of the right panel.
My friend Bert points as Doris and George, from the company that created this
custom BBM billboard begin to dismantle it
Then off we drove, with the five 4' by 8' panels!!!
