ROAR marathon today in the US
« on: April 13, 2006, 02:38:09 am »
Roar was a 1997 TV show that starred a very young Heath Ledger.  I'm not sure what channel, but my TiVo is set to record it.  Some of us watched a bit together (together online, that is) a couple of months ago when it was on.  Here's the IMDb page for it.

Might be on the Sci-Fi Channel, I believe they own the rights to it now and that's who showed it the last time a couple of years ago.  It's really not bad, especially the early episodes with Heath in them.

It's on the Sci-Fi Channel right now, and boy does Heath look cute!!!!!   I'll take him with long hair anytime.

Heath IS cute in it, I must say (seen some episodes on Sci-Fi - similar to the look he had in A Knight's Tale) - but the opening credits are incredibly cheesy (but in a funny way) - I love the actual "roar" at the end!  LOL

OOoh, and those outfits Heath and his buddy wear.  Leather vests and tights - outling everything down there.  The guy with the handle bar mustache (his father) is carrying a lot of "junk" in his grille.

That teen idol/sci-fi producer Shaun Cassidy -- first "Roar", now "Surface" (?).

I might be wrong, but I don't think the handlebar guy is his father.  His mentor, though, I think.  I'm looking forward to havin me some Roar tonight.

I think Shaun Cassidy created Invasion, not Surface.  He also created this show a few years back called American Gothic, which was actually pretty cool.  ROARRRRRRRRRRRR!  (LMAO - people, you MUST watch the opening credits)

Nice to see Shaun Cassidy didn't end up like fellow 70s teen idol and current train wreck Leif Garrett (on a personal note, my major 70s crushes were David Soul (OK that's scary) and Richard Hatch (not naked Survivor and tax fraud convictee Richard Hatch, but original Battlestar Galatica Richard Hatch - who knew they had feathered hair and discos in space?!)

Sorry, I have a friend (Patrick) in Surface...I get it confused with Invasion.  I keep watching Invasion and looking for him instead of Surface.

Fergus is the guy with the handlebar pornstache.

I keep yearning for a rough sex tent scene between him and Heath.

I bet I could edit something together after I get this series on DVR.

In an interesting ROAR fun fact, this year the LA Film Critic's awarded Heath's co-star in the series-  Vera Farmiga - its Best Actress award while Heath had to settle for his usual Number 2 spot behind Philip *frigging* Seymour Hoffman.

2005 Los Angeles Film Critics Awards --

BEST ACTRESS: Vera Farmiga, "Down to the Bone"
- Runner-up: Judi Dench, "Mrs. Henderson Presents"

BEST ACTOR: Philip Seymour Hoffman, "Capote"
- Runner-up: Heath Ledger, "Brokeback Mountain"

Those LA Film Critics deep down just love Roar!

Nice shot in the last episode of Heath and his Handlebar Moustache Mentor/Lover riding horses into the sunset.

I love the tight outfits he wears in the show, but he really has a flat ass.   That boy would look much better with a nice bubble butt!      ;)
