In the ancient Greek world, facial hair was a sign of wisdom and maturity. It certainly seems to make his facial expressions resonate with a great deal of deeper meaning. It is fascinating how a beard adds so much geometric beauty to an already ideal structure. It adds angles which denote attention and which can be easily followed.

There is always beauty in a focused attention. It denotes consciousness and thought and the perplexing ideals of an emotional existance. It is undeniably human, and resonates with those feelings that are ultimately human about how important it is to strive to be more than human.

But I'll admit, Jake is damn hot in those two pics!    ;)
