My harmonica: Please complete!!
« on: March 12, 2007, 02:07:47 pm »
Ennis said, "That harmonica don't sound quite right either." and Jack replied, "That's 'cause it got kinda flattened when that mare
threw me."
Ennis: "Oh yeah? Thought you said that mare couldn't throw you."
JACK: "Eh, she got lucky."

What would you say? If this topic "throws you," I'll go first and show you how.

Well, I know what Ennis says next, but are you asking what I would have personally said next?

My harmonica?

This isn't another one of those "my vagina" deals, is it Lee?

Please go first and show us how to do it. Then I'll be more than happy to chime in!  :D

This is not posted on the Lighter Side for a reason!

My spirit got kinda flattened when that mundane day-to-day existence threw me.
But, thanks to Brokeback Mountain, I found my song again and I'm not goin to quiet down even though I might run the sheep off again.

What would you say??

My harmonica has been kind of flattened lately, too.

Ennis: "Oh yeah? Thought you said that mare couldn't throw you."
JACK: "Eh, she got lucky."

Ennis:  If I got lucky that mare woulda thrown you at me!

Well, it's always good to remember that harmonicas are resilient things... even when they're flattened they go right on playing (whether or not they're tune changes a little bit because of it). I always thought that was a nice little glimmer of optimism.

Hope all is well Buds!  :-*

I now have a flattened harmonica of my own, thanks to the good graces of a very considerate, wonderfully sweet friend. (Haven't tried playing it, though).

Yes, Scott, and we all have a harmonica, we are born with it! And each of our harmonicas does get flattened with time because that low-startle-point mare, she does get lucky, eventually!!

This is a brilliant analogy!

Lately, I feel like my mare has been on a winning streak!

Annie Proulx, in her novel Accordion Crimes, described the accordion's music as a sound of "misery suppressed, injustices born, strength in adversity, endurance."

At a lecture in Boulder, Colorado, last year, she named this novel as her "best work" and said that she spent months researching before beginning the writing.

Clarissa, hold off until after May on that!!

Question for all you musicians. If Jack's harmonica was in the key of D, and it was flattened a little by the fall off the mare, does that mean his harmonica is now in the key of D flat??
