« on: April 17, 2007, 11:03:50 pm »
I saved a lot of BBM Newspaper advertisements.  Here are a few to share with you.  :D

First up is OUT NOW, our local SAN JOSE Gay magazine.  This is the December 2005 Issue Cover:

Here is the SF Guardian from 12/14/05.  It originally opened at one theatre (Embarcadero) on 12/09 here in San Francisco.  This is the following week's ad advertising it's expansion.  Sorry, it didn't scan too well.  It expanded to one other theatre in SF (Stonestown) and a few theatres in the East, North, and South Bay.

These are really terrific, Eric!  Thank you for raiding the shrine and sharing them with us!  Those of us residing in Nowheresville wouldn't have seen a color BBM advertisement, for sure!

Hugs,
Lynne

Here's someone bitching about the small one theatre opening in the 12/16 SF Chronicle.     I have to agree with them.  While just one week prior the giant Galaxy theatre on Van Ness went dark.  It would have been a much better venue.  And in early 2005 we lost George Lucas' 1200 seat CORONET theatre.  BBM would have really been an event there.  Such a shame.

San Jose METRO ad for opening week 12/16!  :D

It originally opened at two theatres here, and went on to be at 14 theatres on 23 screens, including the drive-in, at the peak of the run in early February!  :D  :D  :D

You're right about that, Eric - it does add something to see the women off to each side...poignancy and the sense of the ripple-effect of their decisions, or something...I dunno how to articulate it.  It's beautiful though, in that painful way.

(I Thought I'd leave in the Three Burials ad too, since it was right above it.  Actually, most all Century Theatres locations showed BBM and Three Burials as a double feature through the entire month of March, up until the DVD release.  :D )
