Here's a Reunion song for ya...

John (Cougar) Mellencamp's "Ain't Even Done with the Night":

Well our hearts beat like thunder
I don't know why they don't explode
You got your hands in my back pockets
And Sam Cooke's singin' on the radio
You say that I'm the boy who can make it all come true
Well I'm tellin' ya that I don't know if I know what to do

You say, "That's all right, hold tight..."
Well I don't even know if I'm doin' this right...
Well all right, hold tight
We can stay out all day or we can run around all night
Well all night, all night
Well it's time to go home
And I ain't even done with the night

Well I don't know no good come-ons
And I don't know no cool lines
I feel the heat of your frustration
I know its burnin' you up deep down inside
You say that I'm the boy who can make it all come true
Well I'm tellin' ya that I don't know if I know what to do

You say, "That's all right, hold tight..."
Well I don't even know if I'm doin' this right...
Well all right, hold tight
We can stay out all day or we can run around all night
Well all night, all night
Well it's time to go home
And I ain't even done with the night

What do ya say, Eric?  A good Brokeback Radio candidate, no?

Shakesthecoffecan:
Awwww hell yeah! Why didn't I think of that!?!? Wonderful choice ednbarby!

ednbarby:
I love the Spanish guitar in it, too.  Adds a particularly poignant punch (a little aliteration, Barb?) to the song for our boys, I think...

Front-Ranger:
I love those words!!

ednbarby:
It really has a melancholy undertone to it, too - I remember it being popular on the radio around the time I was falling in love with "the one that got away," so it really resonates with me.

And can't you just hear/imagine Ennis thinking these things?  That's just how the lyrics are written, too, with the "ain't got no" and the "I'm tellin' ya."  And you know Jack would say "That's all right - hold tight."

Sigh...
