Jesus H.! They still make HARD contact lenses?  :o

Yep.  They just call 'em something different now - "gas permeable."  My husband (secretly) wears corrective ones.  Used to be you couldn't fly for the airlines if you required glasses/lenses to see.  So he started wearing gas permeable ones that are supposedly designed to correct minor astygmatism (sp?) years ago.  He still does, even though he could "legally" fly with glasses now.

They're supposed to be better for your eyes, too, because they let some air through.  I tried them back when he first got his and I just couldn't just couldn't get past that initiation phase - it felt like I had rocks in my eyes.  I still wear soft ones - dailies, now.
No more beans!

thats right... RGP ~ rigid gas permeable....they can correct vision with astigmatism better than soft lenses...they let more oxygen to the eye as well...

I'm with Jeff.  The lines around his eyes are from smiling a lot.  And because he has a big shit-eating grin and a great, hearty laugh that he indulges in quite a bit.

My mom always told me they were smile lines....i used to worry about mine...she could be a comfort at times...  I'm glad Jeff was the one to say that.  And yes delalluvia he has a wonderful laugh...thats one of the things I think we love about him so much....he's so real.  And that smile look at his cute lil tongue.  Dontcha just want to eat him...

Gawd, I love this thread!  Would y'all believe I spent the past 3 days perusing all 120 plus pages?
I'm a serious Jake fan.  What a lot of Jake-goodness to be found - had to make a separate folder in My Pictures just for him!  I learned how hard it is to do screen caps, but I have a few and I'd love to contribute and share them with y'all.
Here are the first ones.  Sorry if any duplicate what has already been posted.

Bring 'em on, navy.  I love screen caps, you can capture moments in movies that you never seen in stills.  Do you have to have special software for that?

One of my favorite scenes from Jarhead - Jake is so expressive!  Though it was hard to see him w/o his beautiful hair, he sure played the part.

I don't know if it's special or if it's how everyone does it, but, I play the movie on my 'puter using Power DVD and click on the screen capture button.  Somehow, it saves the cap as a .bmp file in a folder.  The kb's are too big, so I go in and save each pic as a .jpg file, so I can post it.  I'm not technically savvy, as you might have guessed.

I have some from 'Proof' as well.
So far, I've seen Jake in
BBM, Jarhead, October Sky.  (loved them)
The Day After Tomorrow, Proof and Moonlight Mile.  (liked those)
The Good Girl  (terrible, depressing, boring movie, but Jake was very good)

Have yet to see Bubble Boy and Donnie Darko.

Here is another Jake pic to enjoy:
