And I want to comment on your sigline "The rivers are full of drunken-down nasties.  And he who made kittens put snakes in the grass."

That's Jethro Tull, isn't it?  I just realized.  I never ever could tell what those lyrics were before.  Pretty wise, the kitten/snake dichotomy, I mean.

You are correct, madame.  I only just realized a few years ago how really great this song is.  It was popular when I was in my pre-teens and I thought it was "so stupid."  Mostly because I didn't understand it was a metaphor.  Duh.

Here are all the lyrics.  I just looked them up and realized it's "crocodile nasties," not "drunken-down nasties."  I like my version better.  ;)

Bungle in the Jungle

Walking through forests of palm tree apartments ---
scoff at the monkeys who live in their dark tents
down by the waterhole --- drunk every Friday ---
eating their nuts --- saving their raisins for Sunday.
Lions and tigers who wait in the shadows ---
they're fast but they're lazy, and sleep in green meadows.

Let's bungle in the jungle --- well, that's all right by me.
I'm a tiger when I want love,
but I'm a snake if we disagree.

Just say a word and the boys will be right there:
with claws at your back to send a chill through the night air.
Is it so frightening to have me at your shoulder?
Thunder and lightning couldn't be bolder.
I'll write on your tombstone, "I thank you for dinner."
This game that we animals play is a winner.

Let's bungle in the jungle --- well, that's all right by me.
I'm a tiger when I want love,
but I'm a snake if we disagree.

The rivers are full of crocodile nasties
and He who made kittens put snakes in the grass.
He's a lover of life but a player of pawns ---
yes, the King of the Sunset lies waiting for dawn
to light up His Jungle
as play is resumed.
The monkeys seem willing to strike up the tune.

A Romance For Reese & Jake?

April 5, 2007

(CBS) Reese Witherspoon and Jake Gyllenhaal seem to be deepening their relationship. At least that's what sources close to the couple have been telling the tabloids.

During the past few weeks, the two have been spotted together dining in Los Angeles and hanging out with her two children in New York.

"In the last month, they've been spending a lot more time together," a source close to Gyllenhaal told People, "Jake really likes her and isn't at all concerned that she has two kids."

"Reese is ready for someone she can trust," a close friend of Witherspoon told Us. "Jake is an actor, is stable, has a successful career and wouldn't want her money, so she can trust him."

A friend of Gyllenhaal's tells the magazine that the couple is taking it slow adding "they are seeing each other and seeing where it goes. This is for real."

Witherspoon filed for divorce from Ryan Phillippe in November after seven years of marriage. Gyllenhaal dated Kirsten Dunst for two years until 2004.

Both Dunst and Phillippe have been known to enjoy nightlife, but Gyllenhaal and Witherspoon are said to prefer more tranquil pursuits like running, cooking, and a quiet evening at home.

Witherspoon and Gyllenhaal co-star in the upcoming drama "Rendition."

Teacher at the front of class calling roll call: "Witherspoon-Gyllenhaal."
Future offspring: "Present."

(21 letters and a hyphen in that last name.)

Easy for the Heathen to say.   :P   :)

They've even annointed them with one of those combined monikers:  Gyllenspoon.   ::)
