Jake has resurfaced.... kind of. Here he is in the surprise birthday medley on Ellen DeGeneres's 50th B'day today.
I assume this was filmed and put together some while ago...

I think Jake and Heath were like brothers. After all, Jake is Matilda's godfather. I think Jake must be devastated at the loss of his good friend and probably doesn't have words to express his grief right now. I am sure he will have something to say once the reality of the situation finally sinks in. :'(

"Sometimes I miss you so much I can hardly stand it."
Come out of Jake/Jack's mouth spoken too Heath/Ennis. Geez, it was powerful especially given the current situation. I wonder if that line rings through Jake's mind these days.
